Can a high drive linear be converted to low drive? I have a Gray 600 high drive I would like to run with either my Cobra 148 or my Texas Ranger. I'm told the Gray needs at least 40 watts to drive it. Could one of the radios be set up to run that many watts?

What would be the most you could get out of either of those radios? I hear people talking about 100 watt finals. Would that help?

watts

No way man there is an rfx unit that is 75 watts that does not work on ssb or a power cabinet that is 175 watts that is 140 plus 40 to install you radios are just fine to run the amp the 148 is an 18 watt max radio anything over 20 watts turns in to heat and harmonics the power does not even go out on 27 mhz 10 watts max drive is the ticket you will not gety more than 600 weatts pep out of that amp cleanly do not listen to the bs

Buster you end up over driving the amp with a hot radio. it distorts the modulation and makes you uncomprehendable.

I've been in radios over 20 years , built comp rigs and everyday good useable radios and he is right.
best radio is driven at 8 to 10 watts and ran off 14 to 15 volts. swing batter batter..........
