Fifth wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Plate

Awhile back I had seen a quick and easy adapter plate. It was a round disc with a king pin mounted in the center on the bottom side of the disc. On the top side a 2-5/16 gooseneck ball. There was 2 handles to attach your chains of your gooseneck. I have been wracking my brain, nobody seems to know what I am trying to describe. This simply slides into your fifth wheel and allows you to move gooseneck trailers. There is nothing bolted to the trailer or the truck. Any help with this would surely be appreciated.

what you should be looking for is the gooseneck adapter plate that goes into the fifth wheel rails. having a ball attached to the fifth wheel would raise it higher then most couplers will adjust to safely and it would pivot on the gooseneck coupler and on the fifth wheel allowing for way to much side to side movement. as an example of what you can use http://www.etrailer.com/Gooseneck/Pro-Series/49080.html

George the company that made those is no longer in business. the only other thing I have found is a king pin on a pipe. drop the gooseneck coupler and slide the new tube in.

I have called redneck, quality and a few others and found nothing.

George, You could just buy one of these and a 2 5/16" ball and have a good weld shop make one up for you.

no one wants to build a 1 off because of liability. if it was just plate a king pin, weld up a ball and slap handles on it and hope for the best I would have told him friday it would be ready to ship monday. from what we found out friday from redneck trailer supplies, they stopped carrying them because they were not D.O.T. approved. I do not know, have not seen them in about 8 years now.

Yah, I ran into that problem a few years ago where as i wanted to do same thing. Best bet is to grab a $200 tube with kingpin/gooseneck or do busters post or just add it on around your 5th wheel. A few inches or so isnt going to be to bad for a ball placement. Alot of people with rails or removable 5th wheels will have a ball directly underneath of it..

Thank you for all your input. @ Don it is too bad there is not a way to build this and have the DOT okay with it. Everybody I have talked to scratched their heads and wondered why they didn't think of this. I ordered a tube with king pin from Loadtrail and should have it in a couple of days. Trailer is working great. Thanks again.

I do not understand why D.O.T wont approve it,they allow a double king pin for pulling inverted.
