Mack motor, Mack dealer for service/trouble shooting.
Really like how they look, but the '03-current have emission issues that turn into engine issues.
For whatever reason Volvo is focusing Mack on vocational type stuff & keeping the Volvo line pointing toward the otr stuff.
Like the last truck you posted though, wonder how much more graffiti it comes with?:)

I would stick with whats the most common not to many macks running on the road most stay local
I would stay as far away from the FLs as you can
How much you looking to spend on a truck i know of alote of trucks
I love old Macks, but they aren't what they used to be by a long shot. The ones you are looking at are heavy if you're concerned about tare weight. E-7 is a good engine, but don't be looking for great fuel mileage. I maintained a small fleet of Macks for years. The owner was a diehard Mack enthusiast, but he often mentioned how impractical it was to run them and if he was starting anew, he would go a more mainstream route. Like others here have said, you might be boxing yourself into a high dollar parts/service arena by buying one. Lets face it, Mack is gone, now it's just a high dollar label that is no longer competitive.

We have a Mack CH613. Its a 2004. Has the 427hp engine. In the last year... New engine, 33k. New front diff, 5k. New trans, 10k. New radiator, 1k. New air brake parts, 2k. So now its rebuilt. The truck has 650k on it. Has electrical gremlins all the time. Parts are only available at the Mack dealer. Hell I was looking for a clutch last week when I put the trans in. Found out it was a Mack exclusive clutch only to be had at the Mack dealer.
They are a great off road truck and are meant to stay close to home cause it has continual issues. Id steer clear pball. Find a normal truck. For us, the closest dealer is Fargo which is about 6hrs. They have a dealer is Estevan, Sk, but thats a pain too. Mack parts are high dollar too.

Find a Freightliner. About the most common OTR truck on the road.
Easy to get parts on the road as they have the largest dealer network as well as most TA and Petro are Freightliner service centers, parts are easier on the wallet than any other make and you have a dealer a mile south of you on 19.
Mack used to be a good OTR truck until Volvo got their hands in the pot.... Ran an '87 Superliner, an '85 cabover and owned an '86 cabover 22 years ago. Key then was to get a pedigree truck..... Mack engine, Mack trans and Mack rears.
Now you Mack dealers are usually Volvo dealers too and they seem to never have anything in stock and expensive as hell.... Hmmmmm that sounds like most Ford dealers too.
