Backing my trailer in last night, I really couldn't see where the driveway edge and ground were. Backed in slightly off to the edge. By the time I got into the driveway, it was too late. I was already far enough into the unplowed snow and ice underneath it.

Being a 2wd truck with highway tires with an empty trailer, lets just say I don't have enough traction to roll over a pencil anyway. But by the time my right front hit the ground, just the front weight was enough to make it through the frozen part of the ground and into the soft mud underneath.

Let just hope I can get my tractor running to yank her out. She's sitting at the end of the driveway and nowhere near where I prefer to park. Plus I have to go meet someone today so they can use my truck for their Road Test... in 2 hours :(

Oh what a wonderful way to start a day!

First I'm going to try hooking up the winch to the heavy trailer behind it. It's possible I might be able to get just enough of a pull to get the truck at least to level ground since there is gravel about 2ft behind the drive axle... might as well try the easiest first. Starting the tractor could end up being a 1/2 day job since it hasn't been started since October :)

update.

Typically I won't pull the pin. But this time I yanked the pin and dropped the trailer. The tractor was about useless since everything is iced EVERYWHERE. The road, driveway, everything.

A neighbor passing by had a large strap and his 4x4 dually(yay Dodge :) ).
Got the truck out, now to figure out the plan for the trailer. It's not blocking anything really, but makes it hard getting the others back in.

Oh and the tractor died. Gotta figure out whats wrong there too. :(

Thanks, I might.

I went into the house yesterday and gave up once the truck was freed. Leaving the trailer there isn't that big of an issue. Worst case of needing to move something, the flatbed was accessible. :)

The plan for today is to fire up the tractor again and try to clear the snow out of the driveway to get to the ice layer. Then lots of salt to melt it down. Once the ice has been melted I'll hook-up from an angle to keep the drives on clear gravel and get the trailer back into its parking spot ;)
