Phil Marsella just hit 1 million miles in his 2006 Ford F-250 pickup.

That’s right, 1,000,000 miles. In four years.

Marsella, a Port St. Lucie resident who breeds and transports racing greyhounds for a living, turned the 1 million mile mark on his 2006 Ford F-250 pickup, and one of the true benefactors of the milestone — his mechanic — is throwing a party in Marsella’s honor Saturday.

"I’ve serviced the truck since day one, and we’re just going to have a customer appreciation day saying thanks for 1 million miles of service," said Buddy Hawkins, manager of Total Tire in Palm City.

That adds up to about $67,000 worth of oil changes and wrench-turning on Marsella’s white, four-wheel drive truck specially equipped with an air-conditioned dog hauler in place of a bed.

I guess he doesn't have to run a logbook!! Sort of gives new meaning to Go Greyhound, doesn't it?

Probably has the Triton 5.4 under the hood. If so, that is the best "V8" Ford has and I would drive a 5.4 Triton any day.

But, while the truck may have hit the million mile mark, the drivetrain did not:
Marsella has spun a number of air conditioner pumps, generators and "a couple of clutches" off his truck and replaced the gas-powered engine at 400,000 miles — with one from the salvage yard that had 100,000 miles on it.

So, reality is, 400K out of the first engine, and so far 700K on the current engine.(600K while in the truck+100K prior miles) No big deal, IMO. There's lots of Expeditors over at EOL that have 5-6-700K miles on their "original" engines who have no problems yet. There's a couple of 1 Million "original" milers on their cargo vans over on EOL too.

Got that right that a Powerjoke would NEVER EVER see mileage like this. 400K, maybe, 700K as this "Gas" engine has, not a chance in hell.

Have a friend living in Georgia that did this for a while. Drive dogs all over the country. Yes, 250K miles a year is very doable in a 1/2-3/4 ton vehicle. He drove an extended length E250 cargo van that could carry 20-25 dogs. Did a lot of transporting for rescue shelters that would transfer dogs from state to state as supply was needed. Being in the Georgia/Alabama/Kentucky/Arkansas area where a lot of backwood inbreds live who could care less that their 17 dogs hump like rabbits day in day out, the supply of abandoned dogs is in abundance. In the upper NE states where civilization is 2-3 decades ahead, dogs up for adoption are scarce. So, my friend would transport a van full of dogs out of this area up to the NE 2-3 times a week. He basically lived in that Van 6 days week, 15-16 hours a day. Made really GOOD money doing it too.

I watched the video and I never saw any signage or markings of any kind. Because he has no big trailer to give him away, I'll bet he is totally flying under the radar. If he were to get stopped, I'm sure he is likely to be playing the "Yep, them's all MY dogs..." card.

He comes out and says "for the past 4 years, this has been our livelihood..." And these are not CARS we are talking here, these are LIVE ANIMALS! After this piece aired, I would imagine that FDot's got his number NOW!

The sad thing is he probably doesn't even KNOW that USDOT numbers are required and when they DO pounce on him he will not only be screwed, but sadly, shocked... I mean, if he knew, would he REALLY talk to them on the record like that...

Maybe Mrs. Coop needs to call and offer her "Consulting Services" on helping the guy set up a legal business...

He really doesn't have to log, its an F250 so the gvwr is under 10k.

Just now watched the video.........

Notice how the guy at the service center says "I've never seen a gas engine with a million miles before until now".

Well, ya moron, you still haven't seen a gas engine with a million miles on it yet. Your shop replaced the orginal engine when it hit 400K miles. Your shop put in a replacement engine that had 100K miles on it. The truck just hit 1 million miles, thus making the engine you're looking at as having 700K miles on it.

Small town TV hoopla, that's all. Reminds of the few months I lived in Wichita Falls Texas. Big breaking news on the 6PM newscast was about the fender bender than happened at Main St & 1st St. "No One Injured" was the outcome, but yet all 3 TV stations Mobile Vans were there with aerial cameras transmitting the carnage on air and 2 reporters giving the "BREAKING NEWS!!!"

Hell, I see 7-8 of those "fender benders" on the way home just about everyday here in the DFW area.......:)
