I told him I just did 4 ambulances both paying around 2.00 per mile going from NY to TX houston. he said he would have to get his head examined to pay that rate. Who the hell would drive to freaking mexico for 1 dollar per mile when nothing is even leaving there????? Im sorry, just got my underwear all wound up on that 1. I just figured maybe they were 2000 each, but nope!!! I think I will stick with my 1100 mile trip that payed 2000 and my other 1500 mile run that paid 2700.

But hey why not drive 2000 for 2000 then dead head 500 miles to go pick up a crappy load because tx just sucks for vehicles. lol

Nice to see rates going back up. Im seeing these type of loads just sit!!!! Pretty bad as a month ago avg 8-10 car loads for this distance wouldnt pay no more then $3500. So this is a big jump especially since it sits on the board for awhile also.

This was 3 cars going 1200 miles leaving FL with the snowbirds now. Figure uship takes there cut of $200. Which leaves giz 1400 to play with. He takes his 200 and now pawning 3 cars leaving fl for a total of 1 dollar per mile. Right now its hard enough finding cars under 50 cpm leaving fl, but why not all 3 for 33 cpm each to the carrier.!!! I wrote a message to them thru email, listing is now gone. i was nice in the message since I do use them here and there, said I didnt turn you in like I have done others, but please dont be unproffesional and waste carriers time with low paying uncontracted, fake shipment. I told the broker as you can see, this guy has no reply syndrome on both his shipments, and he is new too uship.

This is what they wrote the customer when they posted it on central.

I used to run tx alot, so they call me alot or used too untill I started complaining about there cheaper prices on big stuff.

Not too long ago they called me up to move 2 chevy 5500 kodiacks for them from tampa to houston which is 1000 miles. I ask how much they are paying, They said 1 dpm mile, I said I would need a little more considering the weight, maybe like $2300. Theyre like oh no, both together are paying 1 dpm. Again, same scenairo, we would put them on our own trucks for 1dpm each, thats why im calling around to see if I can put a carrier out of biz by taking my cheap loads. They are really turning into a idiotic cheap pathetic broker that past year or so. Anywho, I just get a few chits and giggles out of them. Makes you wonder if they are just a really low bidder or just like taking 90% of the cut.

Last I checked a 4 van load was a full load for a big carrier. Most 4 loads of vans i see pay 2.50. I like to keep my van loads at $2.00 for longer based hauls

I'm still learning all the in/outs so excuse me if this seems to simple.....but wouldn't a website where clients themselves can post loads and where truckers themselves can accept loads be a good choice eliminating the a$$wipe middle mane broker??? I know it seems simple and probably thought of. Lets face it... everyone on here is guilty of taking cheap loads from time to time. Ive taken them (few and far between) but i'd be lying if i said i didnt. For the most part if something is rediculously priced id rather dead head the the truck and get back to the next good paying job (my situation a little different as my freight is at home waiting to be picke up). Brokers are just trying to catch that guy that might be willing to take a cheap load, and they make out hand over fist. I talk to each and every customer that i deliver a car to that hire a broker. i ask them tons of questions.... how was the experience, was there good communication, did they give you an estimated time for delivery, where there any problems in the process....

I can honestly say that 8 out of 10 times the customer is not happy and the reason why is because they have been lied to. Some of these brokers promise the world and then lie thier asses off until the car is delivered. They will tell a customer that the car will be picked up in a few days, and when that doesnt happen, they'll call and say, sorry - the truck had a minor breakdown and we'll be a little late for your pickup. Meanwhile, the thing has been sitting on central for a week and a half at .30 cpm, and no one will haul it. they'll drag this on for as long as possible, all the while bumping the price up a few pennies here and there till someone grabs it. its all about how much can the broker hold onto. Thats bullshit.

I know how much i have to earn to stay in business. When I quote a shipping price its based on that, and that alone. I dont feel a person out, and try to rob an extra 50 bucks if i think they are not "shipping savvy". I quote my long time customers the same as i do a stranger that calls out of the blue. Why cant brokers do the same?

Oh well..... they'll always be around, and the best i can do is call on the cheap loads and tell them politely that they are way out of line on price and that id go broke hauling for their rate. I tell them to let someone else go out of business with their cheap cars, and eventually, they'll call me because ill still be working, then ill haul for them for an honest rate.

Gone for a week, prolly spent $800 in fuel, $100 food, whatever else that came along. I dont know, sounds like they are starving to me. Applied for authority back in 2009, wonder why DOT is taking so long to approve authority. END RANT. I just love this stuff, feel bad for the people who are doing it, especially when they post pics of family i there profile. So it makes the customer feel bad and accept there low ball bid, not realizing the customer is what is making the carrier starve and work for free.

Looking at there profile, this was a good week. Put this in 4 weeks with the milage, avg it out and to be honest, I just dont know how people survive in this world. Looks like another uship flunkee that will get a repo a year later, go out of there fake business, to go work back at mcdonalds to make more money, let alone get free food. Mininum wage has gone up to over 7 dollars now. Every fast food hires. Why drive 12k miles a month to net possibly $3000 in a month going by you always get a back haul. Figure in your truck payment, house bills, a few kids and your already in debt each month just racking up the miles on the truck waiting for repo man to come. Sounds to famalair in the uship world. I really do feel sorry for them. The worse part is people see this as making money. Worst part is he is not a legal carrier. I thought I saw he has applied for his DOT numbers but doesn't have it yet. So he's pulling for money but does not have legal insurance, tags, etc.

Person who's gonna really lose is the owner of the camper if it gets damaged. Just a matter of time before something happens and he'll wake up and either stop hauling or get the proper docs in order which then he'll see he can't tow it for 50cpm and be profitable.

OMG, i just found the ACE CARD SHIPMENT. Ur avg shipment will pay carrier about $150-$175 per load. Put in 500 miles each load is roughly a tank of fuel which is roughly $120. Put in food for a day for 1 person maybe $20. So roughly your working your but off for??????? Lets hope they dont get a nail in a tire, then there profit will be more debt

When I first starting doing this, I thought the rates were going to be alot better. Well, this site wasnt around:eek:

The truth needs to be told and unfortunately if we made a WOWload thread it wouldnt be nearly as filled as the WTFload thread since those good loads are gone within a second or 2. And even so, everybodys sees and gets the wowloads but that is how trucking should be overall so your really not that wowed. You see a wtf load and you just think in your head wtf is wrong with people. And its amazing to see the 20 cent cars get booked quickly in those bad areas. You wonder how its done, and I bet its alittle bit of both, how are the quotes done on a area that pays cheap. Say tx to south east. Little work, ultra low prices. but go north and they are 50cpm. Granted its a truckroute east west but if I were to quote a 1000 mile haul from houston to tampa i would quote 700-750 for a car. Even if it was subbed out the carrier will still be happy. I couldnt quote $500 and let the carrier make 250-350 even though i would still get calls on it the very same day prolly. If I had to quote that much just to get the business, i would only take $50 and let the carrier still make $450 since that would be a real easy job to do and quick.

I dont know, think brokers try high but will do anything to get the business kinda like letting the customer choose the price which is a rapidly growing trend I see lately. So once they win over the customer even at a high price, they still post it taking maybe 60% just because it will get moved at 20%.

Thats where I give sharpautotransport a 2 thumbs up on this load he has from san antonio to jax. Im sure he knows he could post it for $300 and still get it moved within 5 days. But he is paying where all cars should be going east from tx like they were awhile ago.

Some dispatchers these days are clueless when loading up trucks or o/o who load themselves. Its so easy to say no to cheap loads. Maybe in a big truck you wont notice the difference but in a small truck I would rather dead head to save alot of time wear and tear and better fuel the to take the cheap load. It just dont even up in my mind to take cheap stuff. Guess my time of myself or the business is more important and cost effective to take these cheap loads. But again, thats me, other people may think anything on the trailer is money in the pocket. who knows, hopefully this crap dies off and everything pays 1 dollar per mile for vehicles. :rolleyes:

If you are really considering this business, do whatever you can to burn off the remaining brain cells you have left because thinking about it once in will drive you insane.

Too much about the economy right now is uncertain & would not recommend anyone getting in unless they could do it on a cash basis & wait out the storm as I honestly do not think it is over yet.

As for the $.20-$.25 cent cars, thinking as carriers we need a damage claims release upon acceptance for anything that cheap & we'll stack 'em up for those dirt ball wholesalers. :D:o:rolleyes:

Here is my situation, there are no jobs around here besides McD's etc. I've been around trucking my entire life so I know it's not an easy "job" but options are just really limited right now. Besides I do miss being on the road. Instead of buying new equipment I could do one of a couple things.

Use my current truck and a 2 car $0 debt

Trade trucks and get a 3-4 wedge $5-6K debt

Go pull RV's

Go to McD's and lose everything I have.

Any other options/opinions are appreciated :)

Coop, you wouldve hated me this week. Got 6 vans IL to the port in baltimore, $1000 each, and 6 vans, Baltimore back to IL at $700 a piece. 10 g's, one truck, 4 and a half days!!!! All drops were one pick, one drop. We burned $1800 in fuel, and $450 in tolls.

I wish every week was like this one!!! Meanwhile, the other truck sat and collected dust (and cost me money sitting still) and the tow truck blew a hydraulic line. Win some, lose some.

We always try and grab multiple car listings. The ratio always changes though. I would say maybe 40/60 currently on what we are currently taking. We usually grab a 2 vehicle load per destination best we can. If you travel i80-i90 alot between detroit and boston, there is alot of multiple loads up there. smaller trips have more multiples that interest us more vs the longer based haul. Im sure you noticed with all my pictures that alot of vehicles are the same, at least 2 of them at each time!!!!

Charlie is kinda a pita but pays descent, these are really looking good now though with current price. If I had a trailer in the area I would book both loads, and find an easy backhaul, not bad pay for 2 days worth of work. Gross roughly $3500-$4000 in 1100 miles, 2 days time.

Then, find yourself another easy backhaul, and head home. Charlie has 4 more, im sure he would give you 3.

Its an 89 Mack R600. It runs great. Solid workhorse. 300hp, 5 speed with granny. Everything on it works just as it should (including the air operated windshield wipers). Its easy to drive, and has an air ride seat, so it doesnt beat you up. It is loud inside as there is not much insulation. The camel back suspension is awesome, and its great in winter as its full time locked twin screws. Its a traction beast!!

That concerns me a lot more than not leaving negatives for slow payers (guilty of that one myself). It seems to me that unresponsive to damage should be an automatic negative.

I searched and found the load, the carrier, and your feedback to them to protect US from subcontracting anything out to them... Was quite shocked about the feedback...

We generally won't work with anyone under 95% so I think we would have caught this ourselves but...

I took months to finally get it fixed, and in the end i got to keep the transport charges, so it worked out.. I left them a negative, but central made me switch it to a neutral. Wasnt my doing. Was the best i could get. Believe me - if it was up to me alone, they wouldve got 2 negatives!!

I gave Civello a negative for screwing me once. a few months later they popped one on me in retalitaion, so after a few calls and emails, it was removed. no problem. then a few months later they do it again. i call and email cd, and its removed again. then a few more months go by and they do it again!!! i call civello and the guy point blank tells me that he's just gonna keep on giving me negatives to waste my time. i call cd, and their response??? they suspend my and civellos ability to leave negatives against each other!!! so even though i didnt do a single thing wrong, i cant leave them a negative... not to mention the one i originally left them has been deleted.... whatever..

This may be a dumb question but....... to find these higher paying loads are you guys just searching all to all and putting in high minimum price per vehicle and then working that price down as you go? I usually just search a specific area but you (mainly coop) seem to find/post good load far away from home base. Or is is just where your truck is/going at that time? Any trick I'm missing?

Those loads has been posted for over an hour now.

My trick??? I have mulitple screens per computer all wide screens, and I will have 2/3 browsers open per screen. Then I have everything set on auto refresh so I can just sit back and relax and not touch a thing. So in the end I may have like 8 browers open. I usually set my filter at .45 cpm on mulitple loads. Depending on what im looking for, I usuually have 2+ cars open for midwest, northeast or whereever. It all depends. But normally I always have northeast, southeast and midwest on screens for 2+ cars. I actaully need more screens. Now that I have SLI, I wanna get another screen for my computer personally so I can run 3 monitors on mine, 2 on wifeys, and ive been meaning to get a 42" to hang on my wall. It looks like something out of the space age. But it does the job and keeps the trucks loaded and I really dont have to do anything other then make calls and bs with you guys instead of always switching aroudn the screens. But you said it yourself, good loads only last for about 1 second. And this is the only way I can grab those loads, without working my butt off of course.

I dont have anybody in NE currently, but desktop background is a waste of space, lol, And I have alot of realestate to play with. Its not hard to do, just need alot of monitors and a computer to push them properly. Oh, and not to run anything less then 1 minute with alot of browsers open. CD will catch on and notice that your running a program and they will bitch at you. Happened once. Tonys got the good $hit though. Jtracker for carriers is pretty nice too, I had that for a little bit, but all the intergration of CD just made my job harder so I cancelled it.

Not to mention, we sit in front of computers all day long, so I see all. I see so many good loads everywhere, just dont got time to post them all up. lol I figure I post a bunch of stuff around NE and IL because most people on this board are from that area. Not like it would matter though, by the time you guys see the load, it will be gone since nothing stays up on the boards that long like the north east does. Thats my playground overthere, but I hate shorthauls, So I always manage to make it to NE or MN to give me a nice 1500 mile haul each way. Unless of course I get those 4 car loads always paying 2 dpm usually going 600-1200 miles. I grab those every chance I get. Bigger the paycheck less work everybody has to do. Picks and drops all the time sucks, unless its a long haul. You learn some technequies after awhile from doing this everyday all day for over 3 years. Not a veteran, but im working it pretty good I think. Cant wait to step up to a bigger truck 1 day if that ever happens. I see so many big loads that are just crying my name everyday. Oh well

UPDATE:

I forgot to add, all to all sucks and does nothing. YOU NEED MULTIPLE BROWSERS OPEN FOR THE BLUE HIGHLIGHTING.

Auto refresh for the browser does nothing if the blue fall below the screen. Then you wont know whats been updated because it prolly wont be on your scree. This does happen though, so on areas that I pay attention to more, I will tweak the route, or price filter. Reason is you want to see that blue pop up on your screen, and not below it. Adjusting your text size in the bottom right of the browser does the trick too. Mainly it comes down to screensize. A bunch of 30's i a row would be ideal, but those are still expensive. You can find 24s for roughly 200 all day long. Nothing I would game on or watch movies, but great for everyday use. I know my 24 cost 800 bucks. But I bought it when 24's were just coming out.

These guys wanting to ship car haulers for nearly nothing don't seem to understand... If I move your trailer, in order to be legal to load cars on it, I would have to have a lease on the trailer so that I could put plates and insurance on it. Even then, its a 1 way move since I would be DELIVERING your trailer at the end and be unlikely to find a car hauler to move back the other way...

Overall its a lot of extra hassle for a 1 way and a bobtail ride home!!!

So, I forgot to call those NY cars today. Kind of crazy around here with coop being gone and me alone with all 3 kids and work. Atleast coop took the dog with him.

I called on a car today from St Louis, MO to Ocoee, FL. It was only at 35 cent ($350.00)per mile and I asked for more money. This F in forgeiner had the nerve to tell me that it was a GREAT rate!!!! In response to that I said " Are you serious!!! Do you drive a truck, do you know how much it cost to operate. It is people like you that are ruing this and putting companies out of business!!!" Yep. alot of rat in florida instate. Usually pays 50 cents per mile for short hauls. say a 50 mile haul, quote of 109, carrier makes 25 while rate makes 80 or something.

It seems that the smaller paychecks are the checks that give you a headache and have some type of delay problem in the end messing up your bigger paying jobs on the trailer.

Sure, RAT may be paying you guys .25 -.50 cents a mile to run those shorties, but the math comes out to RAT wanting to charge ME $3.21 a mile to deliver that car to my lot.

So, let's say they pay you .50 cents a mile to do it for me, that makes their profit in the $2.71 a mile range.

I'm going to look at Adessa auctions in other states and see what comes up under my account for delivery charges to my location and share those rates/charges with you guys.

But, I did find a car this afternoon on the Adessa site that would've cost me .80 cents a mile to have it delivered to me. 633 miles I think. (can't remember from which Adessa auction - was on that site for like 5 hours today!!)

I didn't balk at that .80 cents a mile. I figured .40 -.50 cents to you guys and .30 -.40 cents to RAT. Or could it have been .25 cents to you guys and .55 cents to RAT??? If I could get that car at the right price, I'd pay the $500 shipping fee to get it here, no problem. (as long as there wasn't any other "Admin" fees attached to my shipping quote)

Buster and I had a loooooongggg talk a couple of months ago about CD, rates, getting my own CD account going, so on. As I grow, I may just do that. He gave me a lot of tips on how to post fair rates for you guys, and I took everything to heart. If I do happen to get a CD account anytime soon, I'll do what I can to never make Coops famous WTF list, OK!!!
