I am curious as to what I would need to do to shut down Buster Transport:(. I know that I would need to suspend my MC/DOT #, CA # and cancel my cargo insurance. I would also need to re-register my truck for non-commercial plates. How do I stop IFTA etc. Is there a list of things to do and people and agency's to contact?

Tony, I know you had to deal with this issue with your accident. Do you have some suggestions?

I don't know how soon this will happen but eventually it will.
Thanks, Lee

When I canceled my commercial plates I had them cancel my IFTA license at the same time (they are the same office in my state). You will do the last quarter you ran and then that should be it. They wanted the paper certificate/license back and my stickers, which they didn't get because I ruined them taking them off the truck, no big deal.

Thanks for the input Brad. I would be re registering the truck to non-IRP status so I would be getting new plates.

Yes this is one of the offers I had recently. The job is 7 miles from home. It would be no more than 200 mile range, 8-10 hour, early day shift hauling liquid nitrogen and oxygen to commercial accounts. $1000 to $1500 a week plus union benefits and no more truck stop food!!!! I'll know more next week. If it happens, I will be selling the trailer and probably keeping the truck (nobody wants to pay what its worth). Lee

well, unfortunately, unless you catch someone who really wants a truck thats fully outfitted and willing to pay for it, you'll never get what you want. today is a buyers market with a lot to choose from. maybe keeping it is your best bet...

Congrats on the new job Lee! I hope it all works out for you. Cut the frame down on your truck & put a pickup box on it. That would make a mean pickup truck. There's a few of them done on the Cummins forum.

Thanks guys. I was thinking of removing the hitch, generator and aux fuel tank and installing a 9 foot aluminum flatbed with custom headache rack. Then take the mattress out of the sleeper and install one of those "jack knife" sofas you see in RV's and some seat belts. That way it can haul people or be used for my wife to take her naps on long drives. Remove the RV A/C unit and put in a sun roof and a window in the back. Then I would remount the fifth hitch so as to be removable. I've been wanting to pickup a nice little 5'er RV again.

Straps and all, The whole enchilada Truck and trailer $38,000.00 with a full tank of fuel (140 gal.).
Truck only $ 30,000.00
Trailer only $10,000.00
This is contingent on the new job.

More Pics. This is a turn-key business. All you need is your Authority, Insurance and a subscription to Directv!

Lee,

Authority can be transfered. Now that you know how to do it (having done it yourself already) you may want to consider "selling" your authority along w/ the truck. To the right buyers (someone who doesn't know how or doesn't want to go through it) it would be worth some significant change...

You may NOT want to do it, but it is another angle (kind of like financing) that MIGHT make a difference... Just a thought.

Lee,
Hillsboro makes a nice aluminum bed as well, I have to admit though I love my CM bed.I also heard Bradfor is revamping their aluminum bed full skirted, should be nice.

Ok cool. I showed a friend of mine your pictures and he liked it. He's got a lead on a couple cab and chassis Dodges that he's looking to buy and install a sleeper like you've done.
