There must be some out there. I did some LTL freight for a while between RV's and horsetrailers. Sold the trailer went to hauling trailers only, mostly horse trailers, some boats and cargo trailers. Transported a few travel trailers and 5th wheels for individuals and some FEMA trailers.

A couple of these guys on here are already doing both, freight and autos. Since we started out as mainly an Auto board, then added the RV Guys, LTL & HS wasn't really on our minds I guess.

Due to recent going ons at a now defunct board, at least IMO, I'm glad Tony decided to add this section for the HotShot guys too.

I say give it time. We'll build this up just as we did some 5 -6 years on that other board. Only this time we'll do it right by treating the drivers with the respect they deserve from both Admin and Moderators, allow differences of opinions amongst drivers without rude over-talking from Admin and Moderators, and allow the thoughts of drivers to be freely expressed without undue consequences from the P'sTB.

With what Tony is allowing here now, and with what has transpired on the HS Board, the negative & rude attitude from a Moderator, this place will be a breath of fresh air for all those that decided to just "give up" trying to post over there. (and believe me, there's quite a few that "gave up")

Hell tbc, work this area for now. You already have a good core group of members here to start with. Your input will help build this area. You add your experiences and knowledge to this forum. The guys already here will tell 2 friends, the friends they tell will tell 2 friends, those 2 friends will tell more friends..............and then Brisco finally shuts up. :D

I guess I need to call Melvin and tell him about it. I used to have an email address for him but have lost it somewhere.

It would be nice to see Melvin here. It could be a fresh start for all of us.

Many guys on here seem to have gravitated to cars. Some have LTL/Hotshot exp., cars seemed to be more viable for some. Cars are easier to get started with these past few years. Small flat freight is not what it used to be 4-6 years ago.

Bayou is a Hotshot guy.

But like you have pointed out in the past Hotshot and LTL are not the same. True Hotshot like Dennis Green used to do is hard to come by. I can pull some great rates but it is from building loads or hauling dedicated LTL for some direct customer. I do very little time sensitive freight (true hotshot).

I think what is needed for this site is a down loadable business card that shows we have an interest in Car haulers, RV haulers, and LTL/Hotshot haulers. Using any size of truck/rig.

Then we pass it along at the truckstops when we see someone that looks like they might be interested in this. Give them a card, if each member did this, the site will grow much faster.

We need to actively recruit more members.

There are a few that peek over here from Gary's forum. They stay pretty low key here.

And some from 'another site', which they keep quiet to avoid reprisals. Sucks to be in that position of fearing getting banned from another forum :(

that will never be the case here ;)

If you want to grow, this is the best policy to keep things moving forward.

Great job Tony.

This is where the action is going to be at, Bayou.

Home of the FREE, and brave enough to HAUL.

I got a new phone and it has a decent camera, if I can get it figured out, I will be posting some pics soon. I have 3 runs to make in the next 2 weeks for my regular customer to the N.E.. My loads are not HOt, but they do pay well.

Don't know how many times I hit 500 posts over there.;) But think a lot of it was due to for sale ads. The Truckers Report deletes a lot of posts too. When you search things & go through threads you will see things quoted, but not be able to find the post anywhere that was quoted.

Well, just so you are aware of the way I run a forum. I don't delete anything except for in a few cases. If the topic changes to something that warrants being removed(slinging mud, etc). If its a 'for sale' type of post that is sold or should be removed, but even in that case I would have to be asked.

A forum is useless if information disappears, especially if is an informational site. The threads themselves do not take up much space in the database. the pictures can add up, but that's why there are limits on their size.

The only thing you might notice(or I might ask) is that large threads like the 'craigslist finds', gets split or I figure out another format to post those. No reason to have 3 days worth of reading in 1 thread unless its like a 'build log'.

Anyway, I really don't plan on "pruning" the forum anytime soon. That's sacrilege to me. :D

Very good point Bayou!!

"Moderators" are NEVER wrong over at that other board, and the biggest problem they have over there is when you CAN prove that Moderator was wrong with links, information, interpretations, and opinions of others that PROVED them wrong.

Their main problem is they have one 1 person in a Moderating (in charge) role that doesn't have the personality or the wit to accept it when they are proven wrong. That 1 person then turns said thread into an argumentative thread, thread goes south, and Admin steps in and deletes the thread. Wrong way to run an "open" discussion board. I hate to see what has become of that board, but am also glad to see what has become of that board due to the fact that the owner of that board just WOULD NOT listen to common sense and accept/realize who the problematic member/moderator actually is.

You are currently 1 of the 5-6 "active" members still posting in that "chatroom". With the point you made above, I wonder why you still are. Your "Truck" thread you have been positng in lately would get a lot more truthful and FACTUAL perspective views on what you're dealing with on that truck if you had started that thread over here with us 40-50 "active" members on this board. Trust me, I read what's been said, and you've had smoke blown up your butt with a couple of responses.

Don't ever think that you aren't welcome here just because you don't haul cars! Everyone and anyone is invited. There will not be any exclusions based on what you haul(or if you haul for that matter). As long as your topics are somewhat related at times... that's all that really matters. And even on the 'related topics' thing... that's not even required. But we will use that as a valid reason to get rid of spammers of course! ;)

There seems to be quite a few on here running 11+ liter trucks, so many will have something in common with your operation, LBZ an i have twin screws and several others have SA's.

This may have started with Auto guys but we have a very broad base of types of hauler's active and retired. Lots of smarts floating around here. Reminds me of a different time and place.

Bayou hotshot, are you doing flatbed hotshot loads? My brother runs a flatbed out of Houston and does pretty good. He makes some long trips across country pretty regular. They are all hot loads and not real big stuff. It seems that Houston has a lot of that kind of loads. I have never seen any out the Dallas area like that. If there was I would be looking into running it.
