.........boggle boggle boggle!! :D  :D

Had to read this twice..

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/903903-had-a-nice-visit-with-the-dot-while-returning-from-out-of-state.html

....and I'm still confused....

Read it, you'll see what I'm saying.

My favorite part is from the guy who says he owns a car hauling company and tells the guys what all they need to get "legal", but totally forgets about the insurance requirements.

What am I even doing on a Ford Board anyway?? Hell if I know..............

There are so many dually's out there hauling big trailers and now they are getting attention that they haven't gotten in the past. The DOT guys are not sure where they fit. The laws in each state need to be checked before you start hauling a load, especially one that could raise a question.

The states didn't pay much attention to the under 26K area until the past few years.

The first rule to check is the GVWR of the truck and trailer data plates. If they add up to more than 26K then you are moving into an area that starts raising questions about commmercial stuff. If you are not hauling for hire then it might help to put a sign on the sign stating NOT FOR HIRE. Be sure you have proof of who the load belongs to and that goes for commercial and non-commercial.

A little preparation can go a long ways to staying out of trouble.
