Got a bum deal on this one. Just looked back at my old files to see that ive been hauling for them for nearly 5 years now, and now im not real sure I want to move any more loads. Up till now, theyve had decent freight, and ive hauled a lot of it - without so much as a hickup. A couple months ago, I bit on a piece they had in New York, called the customer to confirm vehicle was available, got the OK to get it, and when I arrived at the dealership they said they werent letting it go. I called CARS and told them what happen. After some debate, Nathan from CARS told me that the deal couldnt be salvaged and they'd take care of a dry run fee. Well, months has gone by, and ive placed 3 unanswered phone calls to their accounting department. Finally today an irrate accounting girl calls me and says " I called you back, but didnt leave a message" (Like im a mind reader or something) She went on to say that they were not going to pay the dry run fee and that i needed to talk to Nate. He gets on the phone, and with the most piss poor attitude tells me about how they didnt get any money so why should I?? He gave me the long version about how his trucks get stiffed all the time. Whats that got to do with me I asked?? My deal was with CARS as a broker and me as a carrier.. I did my due dilligence, and got screwed out of a load. They wont budge on the measly $100 dry run fee. So where do we go now??? Do we start trading negatives on Central?? Do I write them off as a bad broker?? I wonder if Nates boss knows what a bad attitude he's got?

Cosgo thats tough, it sucks. But lets think about this for a moment. They have been a good Cuustomer. Could they be again? If yes and they have good rates and pay on time. I would just sweep it under the rug for now. Can you afford to give them up? Can they be replaced easily? In todays market I would not burn the bridge. It will only hurt you, someone else will haul the loads.

I would not forget this, use it as an extra draw card if you need it latter. Remind them that you did not quit on them, when you need a favor. They might not help you out then, but just think of the good loads you might be losing.

The question is do you think it would be to your advantage to continue doing business?

Things could get tougher, than they are today.
