just wonder what method some of you veterans use to load low cars without scrubing the bottoms of bumbers on the loading ramps? or do you just pick cars that dont sit low?

I use wood blocks under the end of the ramps and longer blocks laid as a ramp onto the ramp to make it more gradual. Typically if it is really low I just pass. I loaded a 53 Cadillac with a continental package and bad springs but it took alot to keep the back from dragging. If you get too long of ramps they are heavy and hard to handle.

You need longer ramps to lessen your loading angle.

You can use these layover ramps (http://www.discountramps.com/hdImages/layover-ramps.jpg) or 2x6 lumber to extend your ramps.

More info would be helpful.

1). What trailer are you using?
2). Loading height at rear of trailer?
3). Length of the ramps you are using?

I like the layover ramps but a not the cost. I carry 2 6 foot 2x10 and they work fine. I also use 8 ft ramps too.

the trailer is a 2004 take 3, it sits about 18 1/2 inches of the ground at the rear, i like the wood idea, ill buy some 2x10 tomorw along with another set of ramps because the set i have is 8 ft but it has a 3 inch lip on both sides of the ramps, i only used them cause they came with the trailer. got to load a 69 camaro and dont want to scrape bumpers

One thing to watch is losing traction on lumber, espcially in slippery conditions. Rear wheel drive cars lose traction easy. I would add some traction control to the bare lumber. Like metal or rubber to give the tires something to grab onto.

69 camaro should be no problem.

You can also block up the drive tires on the truck to lower the rear of the trailer.

10 footers on my take 3 let you load corvettes. add 4 pieces of wood planks and you could load corvettes with a 2" drop like the new zr1.. no need to worry about customers watching that critical part of loading/unloading. 69 camaros worked with stock steels from take 3
