Well its a sad day and a happy day. I'm quiting RV Hauling. We won our court case, the lawyer is paid off. The reason I chose to haul RV's was because I was in charge of how much money I wanted to make and could come home at anytime without BS from a boss for court dates. We had about 20 court dates in the last 2 years. Being able to be home was very important even moreso than money. I had to be in control of my life to fight the fight.

I needed to make alot of extra money, 17k to pay our lawyer. I wasnt about to leave this in the hands of someone else. If I had control over my income, I knew I could pay her off.

It had to do with my kid getting in a fight in lunch line with a very prominate persons kid. It also had to do with social services filling neglect charges against us because of a new law in Colorado. My kid had 3 misdemeanor charges in a very short period after a very serious head injury from a bicycle accident. His whole personality changed overnight from this serious head injury. He done 3 illegal things in a month. To this day he will never be the same. But we were charged with neglect from his misdemeanor charges and was not given the constitutional right to a jury trial. They claimed Summary Judgement on us. In the last 100 cases they had claimed Summary Judgement on everyone. Knowone was allowed a jury trial.

I am putting a stop to that deal. Cost me my life, Oh f well. I can recover.

So anyway, I'm trading my truck off. I havent decided what I'm going to do. Will be involved in trucking prolly for sure. Been looking around Dickinson, ND. hauling water and working the oilfield for a while. Found a job 3 weeks on and 1 week off, 23 an hour. May just stay in Colorado too.

If anyone like ShortStack knows about oilfield work in ND I'd sure like some info. I have 18 years and over 2 miilion miles with a clean criminal and driving record.

As of 9-14-2010 the injectors are sold. Check is in he mail. If the deal doesnt go thru I put em back up for sale.

Ive got a set of Injectors for sale. They had 900 miles on em when I bought em. Ive put 25k miles on em. I paid 1000 for em. I'll take 850 and pay ground shipping to anywhere in the 48. Dont ask. Not taking less. Cores sell for 100 each. These injectors work great, and my truck had never ran any smoother. They were new out of a wrecked truck. These arent rebuilt injectors. Its a simple job to remove the injectors for me and since my old ones are only causing some smoke at cold startup, they will be fine for a trade. I only used these for july and august this year. Might as well sell em to someone who will get some good use out of em. Plus I can get most of my money back.

I'm also selling my front bumper. It weighs about 350lbs. Works great to give you solid steering back if you have light feeling steering from heavy bed loads. It is made from 6 inch channel for the horizontal part and 4 inch channel for the uprights. Its solid as heck. I built this in my garage. Not perfect cause its homemade. But its one solid chunk of a bumper. I pulled a buried 12k lb big horn out of a mud hole with it. I got under the trailer. We hooked a 4 inch tow strap around the center horizontal section. Hooked that to a semi that was on pavement. I put my truck in neutral. He pulled the weight, 22k plus the trailer being buried to the axles. Could hang a truck and trailer from this bumper.

Yours for 200, local pick up only. Your bumper will need to come off. You could keep your bumper if you modified the legs under the headlights.

Cant sell it for a week. It will be available Sept. 8th. Bolts on where the tow hook mounts using the factory tow hook bolts. Needs a new can of paint sprayed on it. Its one mean bumper and gets attention wherever you go.

I talked to shortstack and he said there are way more jobs than housing. My wife and kids wants me to go try it a while cause it will get us back on our feet quicker than livin on the road in a semi. I think I may go try it. Found several local jobs around here, but they will be laying off in a few months for winter. So like whats the point? I am going to try and get a job with one of the military bases motor pool management or get on with the railroad. Both of those pay in the 50-60k range to start. Im ready to get out of truckin but am going to do it one more winter. The weather here is no different than ND. We have big slick hills here. They have white out winds there in ND. Really all about the same. Gets 30 below here and there too.

Will prolly get me a mini van and throw a genny on the rear. Just sleep in a mini van for the winter. I want rid of the truck. It was bought to get me thru a rough time in my life. I made it thru. Done with the truck. Im trading it next week for a mini van it looks like right now.

 Scwew dat......Why not keep the dually, find a cheap used truck camper or cheap used travel trailer and at least live right when yer away. Living in a mini van has to be only slightly better than living in a pickup cab.

Yer gonna get raped bad on the trade of the dually with that many miles on it, might as well keep it now and run it the rest of the way into it's grave.

Food for thought.

I wish you and your family the absolute best on your next adventure. Stay in touch.

Mike.

Wow......

What a change.

Don't know what say except I hope it works out.

I'm with Jarrett on NOT getting rid of that Dually for now. You will not get anything, anything at all just trading it in. Is it paid for??? I hope. If it is, just keep it and put one of these in the bed to live in while away from home.

http://capricamper.com/

I had this model here on my 2004 dually while running FEMA trailers for Hoosier.

http://capricamper.com/model42.html

It was comfortable to stay in. I got some wire "cube" shelving from Target and ran them down both sides where the windows are for storage/clothes dresser. One side was for food, coffee pot, cooler, cooking stuff, etc. The other side I had enough clothes packed in so that I wouldn't have to do laundry for 2-3 weeks at a time. I replaced that foam pad they give you with a twin sized "Real" mattress. Also had a 19 inch TV up in the corner by the back window. It was like a little "Mini" apartment minus the Shower. (oh yeah, had a little porta potty slid up underneath the bunk. Maybe only used it a couple of times in "emergency" cases) I'm 6ft, 180, and didn't have any comfort issues when it came to sleeping, relaxing, changing clothes, etc.

My opinion, it would be a hell of a lot more comfortable than a "Mini Van".

Keep us informed!!

Truck has a year left to pay it off. I can get what I owe in trade. Its outa here. Not doing a camper in ND. Might as well just move there. I have slept in sleepers my whole life. In two days I can have a minivan as comfortable as any truck sleeper. Especially the extended minivan models.

My truck needs a rebuilt transfer case, f dshaft rebuilt, new input shaft for the tranny, a new flywheel(bad pilot bearing bore from worn input shaft)(the wobbling shaft overheated the pilot bearing and enlarged the bearing bore believe it or not) Yes I had the chance to put a new input shaft in may. I decided that 1000 dollars needed to go to my lawyer. New tires, new rear axle seals(not a biggie) So about 3 grand is needed in repairs. lol I just gave my lawyer 3600 a week ago to pay her off... And its just too small to be nothing more than a sleeping spot. If the truck is moving it works. But for a stationary vehicle it would suck.

I can heat a minivan for 2 gallons of fuel per night(8 bucks). All I will have off is 8 maybe 10 hours. The rest of the time I will be working. I will work 7 days a week for 3 weeks and go home. Yes they will be happy to accomadate that. I can park that lil van anywhere and sleep like a baby. But again.. Im in full control of how much money I make. You can work till you fall over in oilfield. I will only work for a % of what the truck makes. No hourly pay for me. Owners are more than happy to pay you and let you work as much as you want if you work on %. If you milk a hourly clock you have set hours. Thats fine for most people. Not me. I drive a truck I get % or screw em. Been that way for me forever. Thats what I need for a while. Not really changing nothing. I work till I see grandmas in the highway every night hauling rvs. Thats what it took to do what I just done. Instead of making 1000 a week avg. I can make 2000. No brainer for me..

I havent took a truck stop shower in prolly ten years. Never will take a public shower again. I simply stick my head out the door and wash my head and take a sponge bath in the vehicle. Done that for 10 years. I used to take truck stop showers. I wore flip flops. Still got a fungus from a flying j that I had to be admitted to a hospital for 3 days to stop it from eating my feet totally away. No public shower ever again for me.

Lets see how smart you look trying to heat any size rv in 40 below.. lol 25 bucks a day in propane and youll still be froze. I can be toasty warm in a minivan.

Look. I just paid 17k to a lawyer. Im drained. My truck needs work. I can double my income in ND. I dont have to be home for all the lawyer stuff anymore. Im f free!

I hauled only huge hot rv's to Canada. I got paid extra for that. I wasted my dually for that. I knew what I was doing.. I was paying my lawyers escalade payments. No she just bought a new Ducati crotch rocket. I just bought her that bike. Anyway, my truck is worn out. I done that on purpose. I sacrificed it to pay my bills. No hurt feelings. Its the way it is. I sacrificed to change the future of what my local court system and social services are doing to people. No biggie. In 6 months of hard oilfield work the wounds will only be a memory. The truck will never last the winter. A 90000 mile 2003-2004 dodge caravan will handle it no prob. I already have a guy who will trade me no prob. I really could give a rats @$$ about the truck. This time next year I will be tooling around in a new 2011 shortbed dodge diesel working in management. Thats the goal. I have yet to fail a goal in my life.

lol trucks outa here. no hurt feelings. I sacrificed it. Oh and yep, in the next 6 months I will sacrifice me a minivan, lol No biggie.

lol I looked up where you live. Man it would add 3 hours to my commute home each way. But yep I just may do that. Thanks for talking to me. Pretty much made me decide to give it a whirl. Wont be leaving till end of next week. I'll keep in touch with ya.

I wish I could remember the name of that thing I got at the J. It like drilled 1000 tiny holes in my feet. the holes were deep into the very bottom layers of my skin. Then it came around over my feet and started up my legs. I drove my semi right to an emergency room. They put me right in and I had to go thru these legs baths about 10 times a day and go on some high powered medications to kill it.

Its been like 12 years ago so all the scares have went away, all is fine now. I'll have to see if I can find the name of that stuff. Cant remember now, long word. Anyway, you need some like condoms for your feet to be safe in truck stop showers.

How bout one of you guys invent some and go make a million. Sell em to anyone who has a public shower... Go for it Brisco!

How is the oil thing going? There was an ad on my local craigslist this week for drivers/workers in the Colorado oil fields.

I found a job hauling mail. Pays real good. I also found a real good team semi run midwest to west cost. Home every week. I havent decided what to do.

The colorado oilfield work pays less and there are less hours to be had compared to N Dakota. But shoot that mail gig pays 21 to start and the oilfield in Ndak is about the same. Kinda doesnt make since to go up there anymore. Im doin something this week though, just dont know what yet.

I can tell ya I looked for work back in about Feb/08 before I hauled RV's and there wasnt much so I decided to haul rvs. Right now the world is about my oyster. Tons of good paying driving jobs out there right now. Im mean shoot .44-.48 cents a mile split for teams is 13-1400 a week each. For a company trucker thats good money. At least for a guy living in the far midwest its good money. Jobs dont pay as much out here as they do in the east. But heck that the price one pays for the crisp cool Colorado mountain air. lol

So heck I dont know, haul mail, 8-1000 a week, home every night. Run teams for 13-1400 a week, home weekly. Or 16-1800 a week working the oilfield in NoDak and home 1 week a month.

Here in a day or two I'll flip a quarter.

Nothing will ever beat my Cement hauling gig I done for 10 years though. 12-1300 a week for 460 miles 5 days a week, 10 loads, plus exterme benefits pushing that job close to 80k a year and home every night. Thats what I want back. Sadly Cement is still in the gutter. Both that job and the freedom of rv hauling has me spoiled. Ive had to lower my standards, lol

If you are talkin about this job smr, its a recruiting agency for the oilfield in NoDak. You must go to texas for 4 weeks training first. Then you get hired by an oil company in NoDak. Kinda scammish. http://lincoln.craigslist.org/trp/1957237291.html

I called em and said I had 18 years experience. They said sorry not interested, over qualified.

Actually I have had about 5-6 trucking companies tell me I was over qualified the last few weeks. They said they would have to start me at there top pay scale, and there are many more less qualified guys they can pay less and get the same production out of.

Guys its a tough world out there to be looking for work. lol I have never had anyone tell me I was over qualified, lol This world is totally money driven.

Hell maybe I should go be a teacher. They make 50k too with the right trucking school. But man, the stress has gotta be a duesy.

Like I said Im flippin some quarters soon and goin with it!

Yea but that inexperienced driver they hire can come back to bite them in the a$$. I'd much rather hire an experienced driver and pay them a few cent more per mile to make my life easier. These schools are just pumping them out too feeding these guys with lies. I heard a roadmaster commercial on the radio a year ago saying the transportation industry is still going strong and there is a shortage in drivers despite the crappy economy.

Yeah, That's the one. Sounds like you have options. That's a lot these days. With your skill set you will be just fine. Good luck to you.
