Anyone know where I can get a 10 speed transmission at a reasonable price? Reman is fine with me. I might not need one, I don't know. I'm up here in Londonderry, NH at the freightliner dealership. They say they can get to it by Tuesday. Hopefully it's nothing bad.

You just want the rear ends out from under it or the rear ends tires and rims? Only person I have to go and get it is my uncle and he can't get it till next weekend. I don't know what's wrong with it but I'm thinking it's bad. Will know more Tuesday. Have you talked to this craigslist guy?

I hope so. But I'm thinking freightliner is going to try to take me to the cleaners for a rebuild. I'm thinking at your average place is $3,000 but I'm at a dealer and it's in the north east. Home of the dip shits! I'll pay $3k but $5k to $7k ain't happening. I'll know more tomorow.

Frieghtliners putting a reman in with a 1 year warranty. They say it'll be in by next Tuesday. They just got the old one out yesterday. 4th gear split in half. 5th and 10th gears are the ones that started giving the problem first. Could have gotten away with some cheaper used transmissions but you don't know what you are getting. Hopefully I made the right decision. IDK

Sounds like you did. Did they show you the split gears? I am so untrusting when it comes to shops, you are at their mercy when this stuff happens.

Yea, I had them take the top off to see what it looked like. There was a gear down in the bottom split and other gears were chiped from it. I was driving down the interstate and 10th gear just gradually got louder. So I put it in 9th and finished dropping cars off not using 5th or 10th and less than 10 miles away from my last drop every gear was making the noise and even sitting still in nuetral. When the tow truck was there he had the front in the air while taking the drive shaft out and I had the truck idling to build up air pressure and the trans locked up.
