This is the deal insurance goes off the VIN# and a 3 axle truck is way more $270 a month more  For what its the same truck what the hell does one more axle have to do with it its just stupid
So if you have a 3 axle truck and take a axle out you still will pay the same insurance its not cheeper but a factory single axle is just fig i would let yall know

What!!!!!! That doesn't make any sence. Nice truck though. I really like the mid roof sleepers.

You'd better get a different insurance guy!!! Ive had both types of trucks and it doesnt make a single bit of difference whether it has a single or tandem. Its all based on values, coverages, driving records, etc...

That is always been the way I have found it higher GVW costs more they go by the letter in vin. Even when I have my dually on private insurance a lot of companies will not insure it because of what letter is in the vin have changed insurance companies because for that or had one company for the dually and another for the cars.having more than one insurance company don't save money you get discounts for multiple cars.Perfect example is I use Progressive for commercial insurance on the dually but Progressive will not cover it on private.

It must be the states you are in. I insure dually's, the M2 single axle, and the Columbia twin screw and ive yet to be asked what weight I haul.. My agent has never asked me how they are plated or anything of the sort. (Ive had 2 different agents and neither of them asked) Also, yesterday, someone from Progressive called me and wanted to give me a quote, and i shot the shit with them for half an hour, got their quotes, and they also never asked about weights. They certainly never asked how many axles were on either trucks. Again, maybe insurance varies by state.??

Not saying weight you run goes by the letter in the vin your going to pay by the letter even is all you ever do is run empty you pay by letter.

I posed this exact question to my ins agent due to wanting to go to a class7/8 from my 5500 and she told me size /weight didn't matter. It was based on value, coverage amount and driving record. We even had a little chuckle about "size doesn't matter"

The 3 insurance companies I've used go by my stated value& ifta mileage. I guess its different in tx.

I can only speak for where im at, with the 7 or 8 trucks Ive insured. All Different types, and sizes, and weights, and plated for different amounts, single and twin screws... it has nothing to do with the vin, it has to do with declared value, coverage limits, driving records, distance traveled etc...

Keep calling other agents... at this point almost worth it to see if they have different stories.

My premium went up $1600 going from dually to class 8. Trailer value also doubled.
