I would imagine insurance would be the biggest killer to this idea whether on your own or for a company due to being 21.

Try to get a gig with the asphalt deal, that probably pays better anyway.

Even the rv companies are 23-25 and up. I agree with lbz on the job. By time you find the right truck, trailer, get ins, get authority, you'll need to have really deep pockets.

25000 pounds of hay behind a pickup already shows the lack of thought.

Well like LBZ said, Insurance will be hard. If you can get it, it will be expensive. While 21 is legal with the Gov't, the Insurance companies are the gate keepers. Even if you find a carrier to drive for they might have trouble with their insurance.

I would look into driving someone elses truck, forget Hotshoting. Maybe Expediting with a cargo van or straight truck. Or see if a big company would take you on if you go to a Accredited Truck Driver Training School. Make sure the Carrier will take you at your age before doing the training.

Things have changed so much for young people, the deck is stacked against you still for a few years. It is not right, but it is the system. Stay away from trying to go illegal, it could really hurt you down the road.

Good luck.
