The process for obtaining your Tax ID's is fairly simple and can typically be done online. Federal Tax ID numbers are called "Employer Identification Numbers"(EIN) and can be applied for and obtained immediately from the comfort of your home. You can complete the process on the <A HREF="http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=102767,00.html" TARGEt="new">IRS website here</A>. Once you have completed all of the information, you will be given the opportunity to print the resulting page which includes your Tax ID number.
Some states will require a separate Tax ID for your business at the start of your business. To contact your particular state for their requirements, see our directory of contacts. Find out if your company requires one for your state and request the appropriate forms.
