Heavy vehicle tax 2290 due aug 31

Dont know how many of you run this heavy but,................

HVUT due by Aug. 31 It’s that time of the year again for payment of the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax, Form 2290. This tax is due by Aug. 31.

This year the IRS will not be sending out renewal notices. You are on your own.

It is required to be in the same name as the owner of the truck and under the owner’s Federal Tax ID number – so if you are a leased owner-operator, don’t let your carrier file this for you.

Go directly to your local Federal IRS office if possible. Not sure what OOIDA charges if you are a member, but know all others charge & it is very simple to fill out. The staff can answer any questions you have & there will be a lot of us this time of year.

Page 2 of this form shows the pro rated fee per weight class.

Well maybe the irs wont send anything out but I just got the renewal from jjkeller!!! hehe

Am glad you mentioned it & they probably won't send out a notice. Rather notify you when your DOT number gets ran at a scale after September 1st.

All I meant was go pay the tax at the IRS & avoid the extra fee some of these places charge.

Oh crap, didnt even notice the OOIDA on there. Thats where I grabbed this from but if I read it more thouroughly, I would of deleted the OOIDA. Gonna edit that now, thanks for pointing that out!!
