Any thoughts I ran across this one on ebay. Although I'm not a fan of ebay it looks well taken care of. I called the guy he said it's been sitting for 4 years and that it's got 171k original miles. Any ideas?

Not enough power

On the positive side.

It looks pretty
plenty of wheel base(wish mine had this much)
nice big flat top sleeper

Run as far as you can. Key words "I got a bigger truck" and "its been sitting for a few years". Never buy anything that's been sitting for an extended period of time unless you plan on a restoration job. Always buy something that's being run daily because chances are better that its in good working condition & is Dot complaint. I believe it would get 10 mpg on a good day & maybe 13 dead heading with no wind. My Fl70 would get 12 to 13 dead heading.

Thanks for the help you guys confirmed my beliefs of the truck sitting. There are things that will need to be fixed. BTW he told me it's been sitting for 4 years in a barn, hence no interior photos because it was so dirty.

Dorsey mentioned the longer wheelbase. I am curious as how that helps the truck. I guess I'm a newbie but I would worry about the turning radius in town with a truck like that. I've been in some tight spots in different cities to deliver cars. So the longer wheelbase is better?

Well I really meant the cab to axle length. When I had my wedge I couldn't use my front flips all the way. Also hauling the 15 passenger vans on the front with them backwards with all that over hang on them it was close. It doesn't effect any thing with the trailer I have now but would like to have a step deck like cosgos in the future and it would come in handy then. Always been told the longer wheel base rides smoother though.

Now that makes since, you definitely need the space for flipouts or tight turns. And I like that Freightliner alot too.

I would look at that one.
Maybe I should look at it only a couple hours away newer than my Volvo :) just kidding I don't need it looking at another truck now.

There is a Pete 385 single axle on ebay... thinking he needs to drop a little in price. Looks like a solid truck, but he hasn't posted the mileage. Also that CAT motor will be a C-13 I would imagine, so you are looking at twin turbo Acert stuff for emissions.

Brad,

I watched that 385 on ebay last week. Considerered calling and talking to them. This truck looks real clean. The puple ciggarette lighter on the dash may mean it smell smoky inside, though it is neat and clean (and complete w/ a spray bottle of Freebreeze!)

Is that really one of the twin turbo trucks? Damn, I would pass on it if thats the case...

BTW: He had 2 listings for this. I thought one of them showed just under 700k.

First one is the 1st ending auction (only by a minute) didn't make reserve dumb move by him probably had different bidders on each of them. And he gets to pay Ebay twice for the listing $200 gone.

Maybe the lighter was for some fire crackers he picked up going through Missouri for the fourth? ;) Yeah saw that & the bottle of Febreeze too.

Most the 04 trucks & forward will be C 13/C 15 twin turbo Acerts if they are painted yellow. My C 12 still has the single turbo, though there is some emission programming in the ecm. If I remember right CAT bought EPA credits 'til the Acerts were ready to go.

When I was at the dealer buying mine, they thought alot of the C 13's but said CAT really screwed up the 15's. Particularly once they had to put the DPF's on them in 07. There are some guys out there running some BXS & MXS Acert C15's that are happy as can be once they figured them out, but never really heard anything positive about the NXS(DPF) version.
