So, im going back to smart phones. My storm is lost and my el cheapo phone/plan is exactly what it is. I know alot of you run smart phones. Which do you like???

Iphone 4 comes shortly which is what I was sold on for the past few months. But the droid market is booming now. RIM is doing crappy, even the storm3 coming out shortly, there market sucks.

So im down to 3 phones as of now.

Iphone 4
HTC Incredible
HTC EVO4

Incredible has amoled screen which is nice but only 3.5 screen.
EVO4 is the bomb, not no amled screen, but still nice witha 4.3 screen and extra memory it holds.

Think im sold on the evo4, just got to find 1 in stock as the virtual shelves have been sold out before the phone even came out.

So whats your thoughts?? I know the iphone isnt out yet, and the 2 htcs are still new so prolly none of you even have them, but to anybody that knows anything about smartphones, whatz your choice?? Oh yeah, the evo has video chat like the new iphone does also which is nice to talk with the kids when your gone. Also the evo4 can be used as a mobil hotspot and reviews say pulling up wepages mulitasking pulls them up instantly, no wait. Which is nice compared to my storm which would take a good few seconds for pages to come up.

Anywho, ????????????????????????

I have the HTC Ozone. Its been a good phone. A friend has the droid and likes it. I would not do the Iphone for one reason only....ATT SUCKS!!!!!

another thing to think about is the log book software Iphone has it and droid does too come 2011 you may need it.

Ive gotta disagree.... I run two business's from my i phone. i cruise central, send faxes, do logs, take credit cards, watch the cameras at my shop, talk, text, email, etc....

Att&T not my favorite, but overall, it is very acceptable and certainly not the worst carrier ive had.

One tip for you though, the i phone 4 is not 4g compatible yet... soon after it comes out, another one (the i phone 4g) will be released, so I dont know how you feel about that. you may want to buy a cheap 3g or 3gs phone and use it till the 4g comes out.

Forgot to mention, the mapping program on the i phone is pretty good. its also got google earth, so you can check out your deliver point before you get there. Not to mention, everyone who's anyone has an app. Its a quick to find my bank, a truckstop, mechanic, etc..

AT&T is ok in large metro areas but in the west outside metro areas its worthless which is most of the west. I had it for about 8 months. I paid $150 to get out early and go back to Verizon.

On occasion i loose service in some smaller areas, but who doesnt? Ive never lost service on any interstate, no matter how far west i go. overall im very satisfied. not perfect, but for what i use it for, its a god send.

Did you guys see the introduction to the iphone?? It was funny, steve jobs was playing with the iphone for the first time in public on the big screens and the wifi network there was so used up from the bloggers that the iphone wouldnt even work during part of the introduction. It was quite funny. As far as apps go, they are all pretty much compatable now for all smartphone os's either iphone, droid, wm, bb. Most app makers are doing there apps for all os's. Droid is leading the market with over 20,000 apps while iphone is only at around 10,000 apps while blackberry and others are under 5000 apps. windows phones are a joke with apps, but I hear the new windows os coming out is really nice. HTC is coming out with another phone with the 4.3 screen and now with a 1.3 Ghtz processor snapdragon but that doesnt mean you cant overclock the 1.0 HTC snapdragon. Yes you can overclock cell phone cpus like just like computer cpus.

Awww, choices...... Its crazy out there, by the time you get the best phone out there, a better 1 is coming out shortely.

But this new generation of phones that are coming out/out now is amazing on what they can do.

Haulin and I both have the original Motorola Droid. I like it a lot. It isn't an iphone, but it does more than I need it to do. I'm not young nor hip, and the iphone won't make it so!!

Also, Haulin' had paid to early terminate his iPhone because he liked the Droid better. He also tried the Incredible and went back to the original. The battery life of the Incredible was pretty unacceptable.

I'm biding my time thinking about and waiting for the new Droid X that is coming from Motorola/Verizon. I think it is going to smoke the Incredible.

There are neat phones out there. Tough choices.

I have an Iphone 3g sitting in the closet, I bought when I had given up on my Storm and while the Iphone is a great phone I found ATT service and customer service to suck.

So when the Droid came out I went and picked one up and 2 weeks later I disconnected my Iphone. The Droid is fantastic phone and has survived several hard falls. When the Incredible came out I bought one too, while its a cool phone its TERRIBLE battery life and poor signal caused me to return it and go back to the Moto Droid.

Now there is a new Moto Droid coming in July called the Droid X, then a new version of the original Droid simply called Droid 2. The Droid X looks to be real cool with a 4.3" screen and also rumored to be 1ghz too.

That's five minutes of my life wasted...

My Iphone - Droid comparison.

Web browsing on things like central work the same both do it well. Web sites that use flash currently they both fail do to lack of support. But Android 2.2 that will be out soon will support flash, Apple has no intention to.

As a phone they both work fine, but I really feel Verizon has better coverage and 3G service has more coverage.

Apps, well Iphone has more, but android is coming on strong. Both have an app store. There has been nothing I wanted and could not get on Android.

Music, well here the Iphone is better if your an Itunes/ipod user. But there are options out there to convert and copy your Itunes library over. I did it and it works great.

GPS, the droid phones come with a free google gps map, navigation app that in my opinion is far better than my Garmin. Its has voice input and will go out and search the web for you and get the address. Simply say Navigate to and it gets it.

Email and text, both work well. Of course if your a gmail user android will be better for you. There is also a voice to text app that works well for email and text. Its nice not having to type.

So the big question if Verizon gets an Iphone would I switch?? Well right now I'd say probably not. The Droid does everything I need and does it well, but I will be try a Droid X when it comes out!

I still have a cheap jalopie flip phone. So cheap that I can replace it via Amazon.com for $40-$50 if I drop or ah-hem run over it on one of "those" days.:o Doesn't even have a camera, so the battery lasts forever.

ATT HQ for their customer service is right here in town. The positive is that it is located in America employing local people, the negative is that you need them. ATT in the southwestern U.S. is very weak. I remember a couple years ago in Hesperia, CA standing on top of my trailer & freight trying to get reception. However, Verizon has that issue here in the midwest because of some squabble between them & another small carrier.

As far as phones, I usually go through CNET.com to review anything in electronics. They use to be pretty reliable, but it has been a long time since I have purchased a whole lot of anything & haven't been there much lately...

lol, the video was funny though. Watched a bunch of his videos, yes a waste of time, but kinda humerous. Was hoping for more hands on but alot of jokes instead. I just thought this 1 was kinda funny with the iphone and not available and htc with lines and not ground. Droid X looks very similar to evo and evo can run 2.2 beta now which does look interesting, but looks laggy still with flash, but hey, its beta. I thought I saw droid was leading the market with apps per this 1 website but you know how that goes. DroiD X is huge even though its the same screen size? I phone has great resolutions. Umm, brad your funny, my current phone is not even a flip, as my storm is MIA. Haulin, your like me, you love dem phones. I hear alot of good about bout droid. I have had verizon and they are best when it comes to service, i think at least, but i have a thing with verizon and there whole company how they run things so I do my best to stay away from each of there entitiys as Ive been screwed through celluar, mobile broadband, and fios. Ive spent way to much extra money on bs because there cs sucks PERIOD!!!!! Which kinda leads me away form the droid x.

As for waiting for the 4g iphone, thats gonna suck too. I think the evo is winning so far as sprint is ok for service, plans are cheaper i think. I dont know, maybe jsut keep my jilope phone for a little while longer. who knows

Decided to buy the htc evo. Its specced the same as the droid x, same everything, but 1 is sprint, 1 is verizon. No point in waiting a month for it to come out when its the same, plus its bigger overall which the evo looks big enough. Plus i hate verizon.

Anywho, went to go buy it and its out of stock EVERYWHERE. Avg wait list per store is 40 people. I called about 15 local stores and found me being the 12th person. Got lucky there. Worst store in tampa was 160 people. Guess the economy isnt doing to bad. So being the 12th person, hopefully thats just 1 boxed shipment whenever that will be which nobody knows the amount of evos or when they will come in. Hopefully its soon, got all excited tonight for nothing. Wifey was even getting a touch phone too but now shes gotta wait too. Oh well, thats life, no different from my starter car today blowing smoke up my butt just not to return or awnser any more of my calls because shes too chicken to call me back for whichever reason there is.

haulin rv
06-21-2010, 03:47 PM
I have had nothing but excellent customer service from Verizon and I've been with them for 4 or 5 years. But heck ANYTHING is a huge step up from Nextel.

The Evo looks like a cool phone, are you in a 4G area?? I'm just about 10 miles outside.

ccoop769
06-21-2010, 04:39 PM
Nope, no 4g. And i would buy the droid x over the htc if both was available now. Ive had verizon over a decade. verizone wireless screwed me over by when i was not on the unlimited plan, we used over the minutes (she) and got charged $800. Magically we never got a call nor a bill for that month. (They always call to try and upsell a plan) which they did after the 2nd month of another $800. We were so busy back then with our last business we forgot about the bills and got charged $1600 for 2 months. I have another story with fios and with mobile broadband that wasnt our fault like wirless was due to lack of good cs.

Plus im not buying the phone for 4g, these phones will be the latest and greatest untill holographic phones come out.

Meaning,

1. They cant get any faster, well they can but remember the storm??? that was slow
2. They cant get any bigger, its a phone, not a ipad. Hard enough not without people thinking you got a jolly for them.
3. What more features can you add on a phone???? wifi v2?? lol

Seriously, sounds like smartphone technology isnt gonna get any really better then this.

nows the time to buy something that will last a longtime, other then dropping it on the ground and breaking it.

haulin rv
06-21-2010, 06:56 PM
Thats going to be the drawback of the droid x, not 4g. But heck its going to be early next year before verizon will even start to roll that out.

Since Verizon added the friends and family I have not even come close to using my 1400 min, and thats mine, wife, and 2 kids combined.

ccoop769
06-21-2010, 07:28 PM
Going with the sprint family plan, 2 lines unlimited everything for $189 per month, they did say that there is a special charge of $10 for 4g service wether I want it or not its required on 4g phones so technically it will be $199 per month. I hear sprint has les taxes each month charged and free gps tracking or member locator per say on sprints website which verizon doesnt have. Apps maybe, but when I had my storm the free apps never worked after an hour or so. With sprint you can go on sprints site and logon and track your phones from there instantly. But again, thats not the reason. People are saying it could be months before the evo is released again, others say 2 weeks, some say 1 day to 2 months, but nobody knows. Again, I dont care about 4G yet either, but that will be needed for video conferencing. Did I mention another downfall of droid X is foward facing camera??? Maybe they didnt add that because its useless anyways without 4g.

Anywho, this sucks waiting, and ebay is $600 bucks for them suckers where bestbuy is $200, sprint is $300 but 8 week mail in rebate for another $100. Same price in end.

Orlando will be 2nd phase as tampa area was first phase for florida. Cant wait to get rid of this boost mobile crap!!!!! Hopefully sprint is better or I will have to suck it up, do the 30 day warrenty and go back to verizon and get the droid x. There are some videos showing the Droid X in action now. I interested to see how it works sharing the internet connection via wifi. If it can keep the connection while on the phone that will be great, I could ditch the Mifi card then.

yah I seen the vidoes. Looks ok, evo looks cool. but they are about the same. There are apps out there like pdanet who does that. Costs about 30 bucks for a lifetime but gives you the internet connection you need to delete the wifi. Thats how it was atleast with my storm but back then it was for all phones. im sure i will be really happy with the droid x. Sucks it doesnt have forward facing camera for video chat but hey, whateva

Also wanted to mention if you guys can find an independant outside sales rep for your service provider stick with them. Unlike the store reps, these guys have a bit more leverage to do things to maintain your business with them long term.

Only thing I noticed is I cant login to central disptch with the evo. i put in name and password and login and it says it needs username and passcode. As for flash players and froyo 2.2, im confused, yes its alot faster then 2.1, but arent flash games like them cheapie games.

Say per instance games that I have on my website. I was curious to see if I can play games off my website thru my phone. Well it plays them perfect, not only can I play them perfectly, but once i get to the page where the game is, if i click again on the game itself it will blow it up and make it look like a actual game.

I dont know. I just want a phone, thinking I should load froyo real quick in the evo for fun!!!! Went back to the sprint store today to return another phone and quit the service. Talked crap about sprint saying im dropping calls and all in our house and around town worse then boost mobile and how they use the same towers is just weird. Of course sprint will say maybe its just your phone. Then wifey brings up that I have an evo and I cant even get 1 bar and have to use wifi in house just to play with apps. That shut them up, other customers were listening in about to buy phones. lol

Anywho, great phone, bad not a good area for sprint. And im not going to buy a cell phone booster just for phones to work in our house. Because our town sucks too.

Verizon worked, but dang it, just keep me off the phone with there customer service@!!!!

I lived on the other side of Tampa in Brandon for a while and had Nextel for my job. It had good service but would still drop calls after about 5 min even if you were on bluetooth and the phone hadn't moved. It would even do it outside by the pool... but the direct connect always worked perfect which I was using 98% of the time anyways.. My ATT phone and my roommates Verizon worked perfect as well.

So as of now im guessing I will be standing out front of verizon first thing the 15th, and bestbuy if I can be at both places. Have wifey make some phone calls too.

ccoop769

Well, bestbuys are a no go if you arent on the preorder list.

From what ive been told, depending on how big your region is, your stores will have the same amount of phones. VERIZON STORES. My region is 30 phones per store. And you dont get the rebate instantly like best buy, you gotta pay $300 and 2 months later you get $100 back. They also said if you are not the lucky 1 to get the initial stock, that they can next day you a phone. But remember what happened to iphone, evo, they are still on backorder and nobody knows.

So, im gonna be 1 of those people who goes to the store at 800am when the store opens at 900 to go stand in line. At least I know they got 30 instock, first come first serve. I will not camp out, i may get there at 830. i have no idea whatz ahead of me, but manager said people have been calling like crazy past few days and he is telling everybody the same thing. So I know I will get a phone either way, just want it physically in my hands and not next day!!!

Enjoy your new droid x haulin. I hope I will too!!!!!! Gonna play with it for a few days, then load up 2.2 beta!!!!!!!!!

I use pilots app to find their truckstops. i also like "swipe" to accept credit cards, the weather channel has a good doppler radar, theres an app called "around me" its pretty cool as it shows everything thats close to your location (restaurants, fuel stops, stores, etc..)

I tried that "i log miles", and didnt like it.

The evo was nice, i liked the look and feel of it, but the battery life and heat was crazy . The droid is supernice, quicker in benchmarks, better gpu?? and batter life is awesome with less heat. new update came out today partially supposed to make battery life even better. Plus sprint map sucks where I live, cant talk in my own house. no complaints now with verizon or phone. Very happy about decesion

Gave in and ordered a Droid X today, back ordered until Aug 19. Called all over local and VZ corp searched all there stores an none were available in the Chicago area. So tonight we hit the local Walmart to get school supplies and I walk by the connection center and they had 4. Now I need to decide if I call VZ and cancel and get one there or just wait...

I just installed 2.2 (google's direct version, not from vz) and bricked my phone. It boots and crashes, so until I can restore it guess I'm using my kids phone (or hitting Walmart:) )

Not sure what went wrong followed the direction and everyone had posted how well it worked.

Coop go to the market and download Launcher Pro, its just like the launcher in 2.2. I was running it on my droid before I tried to do the upgrade and it worked great.

Damn it, just wrote a book but then IE took a crap. You will be very happy. Couple minor glitches with exchange server notifications, slider unlock lag, and apps screen lag. Other then that, those will be fixed with 2.2.

You won't be disappointed. Its a great phone.

Being an original Droid user the X has some great upgrades, the display is better, the feel of the touch screen is more responsive, and the camera is definitely better too. The lack of android 2.2 is a disappointment since I had it on the old Droid but we'll get it in a month or so. Or if your brave some hacked versions will pop up soon. The only thing i'm not sure of is the size, its almost to big to hold and type one handed but i guess that's the price you pay for such a nice display.

Well, I took the plunge and did the leaked update to 2.2. It was very easy. Make sure to rename the file to update as the main links are closed. You have to go to last page or 2nd to last page for new download.

Anywho, all the lag is gone from 2.1, the unlock slider lag, the apps home page lag. web browsing is super "quicker" now. Going to any wepage is nice to view with quick loading with flash content, still no hulu :(

Even though 2.2 comes out next week, i will reset my phone back to stock 2.1 and do OTA as who knows, it might be different. Next comes the rooting

For you android users, my biggest complaint is lack of organization. So I now use App Mate, its a free app that organizes for you. Since the droid x has an internal 8gig of memory, this can really flood your screens up with apps and you can get lost. This app is amazing.

The Cell companies had limited coverage (it was easy to get into a Roaming coverage area (1.50-2.00 a minute:p)) so the extra watts were needed. I would think your signal would be off the scale these days. As for the battery life, I never took it out of the truck, kept it plugged in all the time.:D

Yes, cell phones have changed considerably over the last 30 years.

My father had a "rotary" dialed cell phone in his Lincoln Towncar back in the early 80's. It was big square box bolted to the floor with a house phone receiver on it, a rotary dial, and like 8 buttons on top. Anybody remember those? The phone itself didn't ring, they hooked it up to your car horn. If the phone rang while going down the road, people thought you were honking at them. Gawd forbid if you forgot to turn it off when you got home and someone called that number at 11PM at night. I recall many nights Mother yelling at Father when that car horn was blasting all through the house at 9-10-11 o'clock at night. :D

Speaking of the past "roaming" charges, remember when we would turn our phones OFF when we went out of town??? You'd go out of town, or on vacation, and leave that phone off due to the $$$$ it costs us to use our little gadgets!!

What about seperate billing for long distance calls??? Remember those days? You'd get 1 bill for the cell service, and then another bill for any "Long Distance" calls you made. Gotta a funny story on this one.............

Back in 1990-91(???) I had a permanent mount cell phone in my truck. It was one of those big black bulky retro phones where the base was mounted under the seat and all the numbers and stuff were in the receiver itself. Phone was mounted on the dash and when on at night, all those red and green buttons made the interior of the truck look cool. (similar to pic below)

Anyways, girl I was dating back then went to Kississimee Florida for 2 months for this school she had to go through when she got a job at American Airlines. We would talk on the phone at least once a day. One night I had to ask her something, can't remember what, but I called her while in my truck. She kept wanting to talk and I kept telling her that the charges calling her from my truck might be outrageous, so let's cut this call short and I'll call her back later. Well, you guys know women are, my quick little 2-3 minute called turned out to be a 20-30 minute call. When my cell phone bill came in, the "Call" itself was listed on my detailed charges, but no "Long Distance". On that plan I was only charged(32 cents a minute I think) for calls made between 7AM to 7PM M-F. It was "FREE" nights and Free from 7PM Friday to 7AM Monday. (Free Weekends) I looked over my bill and thought "Hey!!! No Long Distance Charges!!" Yayyyy!!!

So, I started calling Roxi from truck after 7PM every night & on weekends. I remember sitting there in my driveway, door of truck open, feet up on pillar, radio on, just talking away with the love of my life(at that time) for what seemed like hours without a worry in the world.

Well, you guessed it, that SEPERATE long distance bill finally came in the mail. Talk about a butt puckering experience, I think it was $1100 something.

Enough said about that, lesssssonn learned.

As far as this stuff you guys are talking about here, iphones, smartphones, stupidphones, etc, I have no use for any of that. If I need to get on the internet, I wait til I'm home or at the office. Texting is a joke. I tried to get ALL texting banned from my T-Mobile number, but they won't do it. I have a NOKIA phone that I got free from T-M some 8 years ago that does what I need it to do just fine, and that is "make phone calls" with it. I get looks when I'm out in public when using it. It is a Relic, my best friend, Jeff-Body Shop guy, called it an "ANTIQUE" just the other day. I asked him have I ever missed a call you made to me with it, he said No, I said "point made". :p

Hahaha.....

If you don't remember these "car phones", then you're a young 'un!!:D

Just called my Mother to ask what year it was we had those 2 Lincolns in our family. (they were mainly Cadillac and Suburban drivers) My Father drove a '76 Lincoln TownCar and my Mother had a '78 Mark IV. So, my Father had that car phone in his TownCar in the 70's.

I just found these 2 pics. That could have been my Father in that Pic!!!:D

I've had tapatalk on other forums.
Sure it's fine for social forums without much for custom coding. But considering everything gets cached on their servers and I basically install their scripts giving full access to the database... eh, don't think so.
Our database here has so many custom tables, their stock vbulletin scripts won't work here without serious modification.

So for now... Nope. Deal with the mobile style, it works just fine. If I can use it on a Blackberry Tour, then it will work fine on anything else.

eh, I split the forums so tapatalk could be used. It won't have everything, but it somewhat works.

The unlock sucks. Sometimes when I have it in lock mode & answer a call using my bluetoothe it comes over the speaker on the phone & blue toothe. It also reboots sometimes for no reason. I havent used the bluetooth yet, but from reading there is bluetooth updates with bluetooth dialing.. The speaker I never noticed but read there is apps that can fix that, they have had alot of extra time on this update, so with all the complaints, im sure mostly everything will be fixxed. I know 98% of the annoyances I noticed especially the lag was all gone on the version I used (first version 2.2). Hoping ota version fixes a few more bugs like the connectivity error with the orange triangle. That drives me crazy. Other then that, just the overall performance feeling of the phone was a great change to 2.2 on the X.

Tosch88

ccoop769

at 12:00 est tomorrow or later., go to "settings", scroll down to the bottom "about phone", then click on system updates. It will do its thing for about 5 minutes, reboots, then 2.2 is active. You will know its working as you see the lock screen is different. Not everybody is set to recieve the notification at once so they dont flood the servers, but at 12est, everybody can do it manually.

Well after the OTA 2.2 came out I started tinkering around with some more rooted apps. I came upon this overclock app which lets you overclock your cpu to 1.45 from 1.00. The phone can be blazing fast if your into charging it alot.

But I managed to overclock to 1.25 which is a 25% overclock while lowering my volts which leads to better battery life and less heat. Reading on more threads you can really customize in doing so giving alot more battery life at idle periods.

All this only costs $1-$3 for the 2 apps you will need.

Only need to spend about 20 minutes doing research on this thread and go get the apps.

Just figured I post....

It has a anti virus scanner, a gps locator to find the phone from any computer and it has a scream feature which if you lose your phone in the house you can make your phone play a loud siren from the computer.

Anywho it runs in the background of the phone so you never have to mess with anything.

I know on my phone with ota 2.2 rooted, undervolted, adfree but on stock clocks, im at about 1450. OC to 1.2 and im around 1600ish, 1.3 im around 1700+. I cant get stable anything above but im using the app presets for voltage instead of manually entering them in.

Right now i havent had time to manually enter the clocks and volts, so im on stock clocks, but lowered my volts on cpu1 to 20, and lowered cpu2,3,4 about 10 less then stock. Your major battery life helper is cpu1, I lowered it to 300 and volts at 20. I notice no difference in overall function with overclock since 1.0 is fast enough, but im sure if you played playstation1 games on your phone, you would need overclcok. Playing nintendo games on the phone 1.o is fine, no lag. Playstation games will eat up your cpu.

Hopefully you get it fixxed, sounds like your phone is messed up though, not the software. Assuming you did a full factory reset.

Have you guys tried any roms yet??? Im thinking about doing the rubx 1.6, I read thats pretty nice on most phones.

I didn't do the full factory reset yet. It seems to be working better. I haven't really tried tweaking anything yet just running the very small overclock app with all their settings. I will mess with it move this weekend.

Here is my "smart" decision when it came to choosing a phone.

Owned 8 Years.
Rec'd Free when I transferred my phone # from AT&T to T-Mobile.
Has been all over the country with me when I was on the road and ran into very very few areas where I didn't have service.
Never had dropped calls, either made calls or calls that were rec'd.
Ringer and Dialer still works.
Only annoyance to phone is that it receives those annoying Text-Message thingies.

Yep, phones were invented for people to communicate(TALK) with each other. Do you think Alexander Graham Bell had "typing, taking pictures, or surfing the internet" on his mind when he invented the Telephone?? Probably Not.......

Yep, this the best investment I've made when it comes to communicating with people. AND, did I mention that this phone didn't cost me a penny???

Yeah, I did, look above...................Hahahaha.................. .;) ;) ;)

But can you be sitting in a restaurant or watching a show at Seaworld and watch for a car to pop on Central?

I had the same theory, I even tried a Blackberry and it was not worth the cost and I went back to a regular phone. But then I got my hands on an iphone and I was hooked. I still have it but my hatred of att caused my iphone relationship to end.

I switched memory cards and have been crash free, I have to stop by vz and swap the other one out.

Nope........

When I'm sitting in a restaurant, I prefer to be enjoying my meal and company.

If I was sitting at SeaWorld, nothing else but enjoying SeaWorld would be on my mind.

For me its just nice not to have the laptop, camera and video camera. Its all combined into one and its easy to carry at all times. If I stop for a minute I can check my emails within seconds, log onto a forum or Cd, do online banking and other business crap. I don't use it as a toy because I wouldn't have a smart phone if I weren't in business for myself. Very good business tool to have.

Syncing????? When i upload music and movies to my x, i just copy and paste my files over. I dont use itunes though, most my stuff is avi or mp3. Theres another update out coming soon for the x, 2.2.1. Supposed to fix alot of issues. Its not OTA yet but a leaked version is out. Might fix ya'lls bluetooth problems.

Oh droid x now sells for $100. Crazy cheap for a smarthphone. Either they're getting ready to push out the new smartphones or have overstock of X. Droid X global coming out soon. 1.2 CPU and of course its global. Them new tablets are pretty cool with android 3.0 and dual cores cpus.. Price is cheap, compared to the ipod.

So it's been a few days and I guess I'll say I am liking the iPhone more and more. The phone itself is rock solid and iOS is too. Not one glitch or issue. There are few things I miss from android and the droid x, screen size and widgets are the biggest. But the ease of syncing and getting apps with iTunes somewhat makes up for that. For now I'll say it's a keeper, so if anyone needs an original droid or droid x pm me I may have a couple for sale.

U should look into dual boot. Run droid 2.3 on a iphone. I cannot deal with stock and no customizations. Hacking an droid os is endless. Steve should rethink how he does things before he loses all his market shares. Blackberry on the other hand will prolly close up shop within a couple more years. Maybe not even...

Yes I kept it, since if you are on the phone you can not use the internet (tethered). Monthly w/ taxes is $260 (I was bit off above) and that is getting 15% off. Base plan is about $125 for 4 phones, then the 2 smart phone add ons and my air card which is about $105, then taxes.

Heck if Apple gave iOS away or even allowed another manufacture to use it the results on that chart would be much different. Figure that percentage is pretty amazing based on only one phone and up until a month ago one carrier.

As far as page load speeds I don't see much of a difference, verizons 3G isn't the fastest no matter what. My wife has a android phone still I'll grab it later and do some side by side speed test and see how they compare.

Its not because of root. All system files need to be there. All the bloat needs to be there. Nothing frozen. If u still cant figure it out there is 3 ways of fixing it.

Easiest way is to spend 5 bucks in the market and get liberty toolbox. Its a rom based off gb but hacked all up for the better.

Next way is to sbf back to stock or u can maderstock thru clockwork recovery.

Maybe even try a data reset in ur settings.

Call me if u have any questions. Im currently running liberty gb. 07 watermarkd theme and i love it. Bout to put rockin rainbows theme on it and apex and give it to the wife. Hoping droid bionic comes out next few weeks or im getting the x2.

We have some great new info on potential features in Google's next Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich. Many of the features you will read about in the article below are based on factual evidence, but a few are speculative. All of these features may not show up in ICS, but instead could appear in the future. Still, these are some impressive features to look out for in whatever new version of Android Google creates. The original article over at AndroidPolice includes a few more details and some videos, but we covered most of the juicy tidbits here. If you want to check out the videos we have provided a source link at the end of the story. Here are the features that could show up in your next Android device:
Google Android OS Featureset Wishlist:Device to Device NFC Sharing = This feature takes the NFC technology beyond just mobile wallet applications. According to sources, "0-click sharing" is the plan and this means no preparation, no app to open, just tap 2 devices together and it shares pictures, music, files, calendar events, videos, and websites. - This feature has been confirmed by a Google engineer to be planned for ICS. - Of course, you will need an NFC enabled device to utilize this functionality.
Better Text to Speech = The current text to speech engine for Androids has not been updated since its beginning release and is rather lackluster, to say the least. However, in December of 2010 Google bought the speech synthesis company Phonetic Arts, and it is possible they will be implementing the newer technology from this company in ICS. Phonetic Arts was a worldwide leader in speech tech, so we could see some great improvements.
A Better Keyboard = Another acquisition that Google made in October of 2010 was a keyboard company called "Blindtype." This could mean vastly improved text correction options.
A Much Faster Emulator = The current Honeycomb emulator is extremely slow, which is a source of frustration for developers; however, at Google I/O 2011, they demonstrated a much faster emulator, and even played a 3D game on it. At that time, they indicated it could be ready in a "couple of months." Of course, that was 4 months ago, and ICS will make 6 months, so it is highly probable we will see it in ICS.
Back To Open Source = Honeycomb temporarily moved away from open source so that Google could rush out a competing tablet OS to the iPad. It was never their intention of making the tablet OS permanently closed, but it allowed them at that time to control the code more quickly without having to worry about making it open source. Here's a quote from the AndroidPolice article with the skinny on the future,

Luckily this is going to change. The big cheese said so himself on the Official Android Developers blog, "This temporary delay does not represent a change in strategy. We remain firmly committed to providing Android as an open source platform across many device types." Source code is coming back. This will make the modding community's life much easier. Cyanogenmod 8 (I got excited just typing that) and Ice Cream Sandwich will be able to get hacked onto just about anything.
Head Tracking APIs = Head tracking allows your Android device to track you head movements and position. This allows video software to auto zoom on your face or use face distortion gimmicks. It also allows for 3D software to change your perspective in a 3D scene by your head movements. According to the Day One Keynote from Google I/O 2011, this will be available as an API for developers when ICS is released.
Android@Home = The name of the game here is controlling all your home electronics and devices remotely with Android. You will be able to control lights, speakers, and music players. They are even working on building the protocol into other devices like lamps, alarm clocks, thermostats, switches, and dishwashers. The first company coming out with a product for this is Lighting Science, with an LED Light bulb and programmed switch. This is due at the end of 2011, but some devices may become available as soon as ICS is released (like the Lighting Science Bulb above).
All That Honeycomb Goodness On Phones = Last, but not least, we will have the added functionality of all the Honeycomb features for our phones. Here's a difference breakdown for you:

Hardware Accelerated UI
Ground-up Multicore Support
The Tron Theme
Virtual Buttons
Resizable and Scrollable Widgets
New Keyboard
Notification Controls
A Tabbed Browser
Chrome Bookmark Sync
HD Youtube
Redesigned Camera, Calendar, Contacts, Gmail, Gallery and Email Apps
Encrypted Storage
USB Host and Bluetooth Support for Mass Storage Devices, Keyboards, Mice, Gamepads, Joysticks, and Cameras
Wi-Fi Proxy Settings
Auto Account Login
Media Scanner is Out, Media Sync is In
It certainly seems like Google is doing more than a slight evolution of the Android product with Ice Cream Sandwich. This new version is like a whole new stage of awesomeness. Eric Schmidt has indicated that we should see it in October or November. What do you guys think? Does this get you more excited about ICS?

And heres a video of it....

IOS 5 comes out on the 12th and will be a free upgrade.

The 4s is a stepping stone phone like the Droid X2 was to the Bionic. And really the Bionic isn't a breakthrough huge leap either. Myself my biggest disappointments were same screen size and still being glass on the back. Now after watching and reading more about siri, its looks to be a really cool tool. I know android has voice recognition, its limited and really doesn't work all that great. So if siri functions like it does on the video and as well as its been reported, they have really raised the bar for this.

Steve Jobs "may never be equaled"

(Reuters) - Passionate, prickly, and deemed irreplaceable by many Apple fans and investors, Steve Jobs made a life defying conventions and expectations.

And despite years of poor health, his death on Wednesday at the age of 56 prompted a global gasp as many people remembered how much he had done to transform the worlds of computing, music and mobile phones, changing the way people communicate and access information and entertainment.

Well its 4s day. Pre-Orders sold out of first shipment (over 1 million). Lines formed at stores and they are also expecting a complete sell out also. Sales expected to surpass 25 million by years end.

Sprint bet the farm on the iPhone committing to over 30 billion dollars worth to get it!

Thinking about going by the Verizon store and seeing whats going on there after I unload:thumbup:.

Well the time has come where my droid x is just skipping by. My batt died yesterday and upon charge and reboot my SD card died also and my phone acts really weird. Back button doesnt work and other stuff acts weird. Maybe my batt is cause of all this??? I was hoping to hold out for the quadcore/tegra3 first quarter 2012 but dont think that is happening.

Which leaves the best 3 to date. We have the droid razor, Scratch that, droid 4 dec 8, scratch that too, and that leaves the samsung nexus lte exclusivly to verizone dec 12 release date. Think the nexus will work!!!!!!! Unless of course I can revive my phone with a new battery which prolly nobody has in stock since its obsolete.

pretty crappy if I have to get an obsolete phone that hasnt even been released yet!!!!!

Still havent got my battery. need to order 1 for my x today. Tomorrow the nexus gets released for anybody who wants the baddest phone on the market. It has the best cpu, biggest screen, best rez, 1 gig ram, and ics. Reports have shown this device has zero lag which is common in android. Then in a couple more months, maybe not even, it will be obsolete when tegra3 comes out for phones. Oh well, thats electronics for you these days.
