UPS’s Automotive Industry Solutions Group will work on behalf of Manheim’s customers – including dealerships, auto manufacturers, car rental companies and financial institutions – to arrange pick-up and drop-off of vehicles bound for Manheim’s 77 operating locations in the United States. Customers can expect professional and expert handling of their vehicles by UPS and consistent transport service, regardless of where they do business with Manheim. UPS anticipates an 18- to 24-month timeframe to transition all of Manheim’s operating locations to UPS’s services.

UPS will coordinate and dispatch requests from all of Manheim’s operating locations, enabling UPS to make the most cost-effective supply chain decisions, such as consolidating multiple shipments from one region into one delivery. UPS also will provide Manheim with consistent transport paperwork, payment terms and processes.

Great, more competition

Now that UPS owns Overnight, I heard Fed Ex is trying to buy out UPS.

New company is going to be called Fed Up Overnight.

If they treat cars like packages can you imagine the damage claims!

Apparently, they are still going to use some carriers. But they are going to start handling all of the 'supply chain' issues. If they cannot consilidate the car into an existing load, they'll see problems.

Other than them trying to move cars themselves, the big problem will be McNutt, RAT, and the new boneheads AutoTransMart. They won't see any cars out of Manheims if they are being handled there(aka Arena in Bolingbrook). I also figure the OVE sales will go the UPS route as well.

We'll only know the real story once I finally get someone on the phone.

They have a couple local haulers here under contract to move Mannhiems "stuff" this past year. Rates are roughly 25% of what I moved some of the same stuff for 2-3 years ago. :(
