View Full Version : Why I like chain ends on my ratchets

Some guys wonder what type of ratchet handles to get. In my experience, on my flatbeds, I order ratchet handles with 2' chains and grab hooks on the ends. There is exactly 2' of chain and then the grab hook, not 2' including the grab hook (makes a big difference in where it'll reach)

I like them because of the numerous places and ways you can tie something down. go around a stake pocket, hook to the end of a stake pocket, hook it to itself, reach it under the trailer to hook to a frame, etc, etc... Also, no straps to break. I still have 12 ratchets that I bought 5 years ago in great shape.

LOL. Yeah. That is the only downside. And it's a real pain trying to paint in between those rub rails!

The strap-ends don't like angles.......
The chain-ends don't care......
