Coming soon.. impound and police towing!!
No Thank You...........
(Haha)
I interviewed with B&B Wrecker service( http://www.eulesswrecker.com/ )over here in Euless years and years ago about driving one of thier "Local" trucks doing police and impound tows here in the HEB area. (Hurst-Euless-Bedford) The area also included Grapevine and Southlake.
Hours were supposed to be Mon-Fri 7AM to 5PM and "On Call" 24/7. Was only offering a base pay of $375 for the 5 ten hour days and more money was to be made up on commission for the after hours police/impound tows. I asked the guy, "So, you want to me to put in 10 hours a day AND be on call the other 14 hours?" He said yes and that I could make up to $800-$900 a week easy on my after hour calls. I then asked "So, I could be running my asss off 7AM to 5PM for $7.50 an hour and would have to stay up half the night 7 days a week to make any kind of decent living, right?" He was like, what's wrong with that??? I then asked if I could just blow off the Mon-Fri 7 to 5 part and just work after hour police/impound pulls on commission only for $5-$600++ a week if that's where the real money is. That question threw him for a loop. Guess he never had an applicant that had a little common sense apply there before. :p
Anyways, didn't take the job, and he never really offered it either. B&B is just down hwy 10 here from my house. I see their drivers all the time, and for some reason, I always seem to never see the same drivers driving their "Local" wreckers week in week out. Wonder why............:D

doesnt sound real fair to me.
we're in a little different situation. im looking forward to it. its really a natural extension of the hauling we do, plus the recoveries keep it exciting. we're a small community that's growing steadily. ground floor is where i like to be.

I worked for a good sized company in Schaumburg, il here. I worked ruffly 96 hrs a week. The week would start on monday morning at 8am to tuesday 5pm, then wednesday 8am to thursday 5pm and again on friday start at 8am to Saturday 8am. Finally start on sunday 8am to monday 5pm and start the week over again. I worked for $10/hr monday-friday 40hrs. I was a slave! I hated it so much that during the snow storms, I turned off my cellphone so I could not be called in early or on my off day. I had no life, I had to ambition to do anything but work. They worked you so much that you could not get a chance to look for another job. I then so how found a job to be a time clock slave somewhere else. If you work 12 hr shifts that is OK. But anything more, you are a working zombie. Its like taking your life and putting a bullseye on your ass everytime you do a tow on the side of the road. I had a friend that got hit during a tow, all because he was on for 24 hrs. At that point he was slow and mentally/physically tired. Well that is all I will say about that.....
