I am a new guy looking to get into the business, i looked at central dispatch and even called them to see if i could get on their website for a week so i could see what loads were available from my area. I was just trying to do some homework to see if there is work for me, they would not let me on the site because i did not have all my insurance and forms.
Question? how do you guys and gals feel about central dispatch, are you able to keep busy loading both ways, do you see alot of loads come out of southern california.
any info would help
thanks Jeff Reed

You can generaly stay loaded on Central but the rates are not always good. Thats where building a customer base is important. LA to Las Vegas round trips and LA to Phoenix round trips usualy work out ok. You are located well for both of these.

There are other boards and some brokers have there own sights. You always try to keep your options open. When booking or searching for a load, you look EVERYWHERE you can for the best rates going the direction you want to go. When you first get started, You'll want to fill out packets for every broker you can find. That way when they have a load available, You are already set up with them to haul it. Not all brokers have packets but the ones that do tend to pay better.

thanks buster, I really appreciate your time, I am trying to get into this with new equipment but not over extend myself. My work ethics are very strong and because i have been out of work, i would drop everything for a customer or an opportunity, even to get into this business, but i have to do my homework and this is part of creating my business plan, hearing from driver who do this for a living, also i have to make sure my current business is dead before i shut the doors. with that said i go next week to renew my medical on my class a, i dont want to let the class a go for no reason.

Is central dispatch like uship it where you have to bid and wait, or can you take what they have and book right online????????
You find what you want to take and call the broker/dealer/customer directly from the listing. there is really no bidding, but most of the time we ask for more $$ depending on the rate posted, etc. ;)
