What do you guys think of this new confidential crap????
Im kinda pissed, my profile has nothing but good paying loads on it, and now I cant brag because Its all confidential.
What will this do to uship prices?? Maybe something, maybe nothing.
But I was happy to show off what I book stuff for on uship!! Now customers are going to think Im really crazy asking for going rate prices:eek:

Okay, this is weird. If any of you were paying attention, on the blog on uship, the last blog was about price confidential. I left a comment saying basically how dumb this was. And what do you know, not even a few days later, that blog is gone and so is price confidentiallity. Did my post work??? Everyting is back to normal accept me being suspended again for another 30 days!!! lol, dang it man, now what am I going to do in my spare time when im looking for a good laugh. I was working on a boat last and the guy cared about insurance the most since it was an 100,000 new boat, and wanted it flatbed. But he didnt want to pay 2200 for a 1400 mile drive IA to MD. We spoke for nearly 3 days straight. Talking about legalitys and insurance. Guy was actually pretty cool and listened well and asked about MC DOT and INsurance to everyone. I even told him that my insurance wouldnt cover any rock chips nor will my company and to hire enclosed transport if possible.
Well, a boat dealer driver (Supposedly) came in and towed it for under 1 dpm, and says he has insurance and if any rockchips happen to the boat, he will pay out of pocket, let alone had 5 bids with 2 cancels. It was accepted.
Fucking idiot shipper and lier driver!!!!! Now im gonna miss shit like this for another 30 days!!! hehe
Well, moral of the story, guess he isnt to smart because

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but how did this doof haul the boat for under a dollar per mile??
Could you even haul that with a dually? Or was it a smaller boat?
Figuring it would cost like what, $600 in fuel just to go from pickup to dropoff.
How good is DOT at catching the guys that run illegal?
And how pervasive is this? I'm not sure I'd want to go into an industry where the black market drivers are hauling all the stuff like this for cheap.

From what I know DOT does nothing about illegals because they just fly by the stations like a normal person and truck. People haul stuff all the time for like 50cpm to 80cpm to haul avg 5k-10k pounds boats cross counrtry or shorter hauls. They do this on there spare time from other jobs to make more money. Needless to say they dont make much and usually end up broke.
To alot of people now, making a few pennies is better then making nothing. Illegal carriers isnt your only problem in this industry. There is scams with brokers and other carriers and low bid brokers hogging up alot of the work making high end brokers to lower there cost. The economy doesnt help but is picking up from years ago.
Most stuff on uship is illegal carriers. You do get your bigger boats or flatbed stuff that is usually done by broker. But anything else that can be carried by an illegal will take it. Also uship is becoming a prime place for a broker to make an extra 50k to 100k a year. More and more brokers are becoming aware of this and joining taking there peice of pie and now we are getting bidding wars worse then bought leads going to 10 different brokers..
This job is definatly not easy.

Do you keep normally get loads from centraldispatch? Or do you have your own customers by now?
If/when you used CD, did you try to stick with 2 or 3 brokers who you tried to be exclusive with?
I would figure it's best having 2 or 3 brokers to work with to form a strong business relationship with. If they need something hauled quickly but cheaply, be there for them, and then when they have a good load, they'll hook you up.
So basically, Uship knows what's going on, and goes out of it's way to make sure they aren't exposed, hence why you have been suspended from their forum a hundred times. Or was that MrsCoop that's been suspended?
I went to Uship and looked around there for a while. Looks like 90% of it is residential - common people wanting their car moved. What's going to end up happening is that someone will wreck the wrong old snowbird lady's car, not have insurance, and She's Not Gonna Take It, and sue Uship for not checking these illegal carriers out. I can't fathom that Uship would be protected, why would Central Dispatch take the time and cost to make sure carriers are legal if it's not required??

I may have a big mouth but no it's not me that keeps getting banned from Ushit. Coop is the one that likes playing on there :)
Yes it would be awesome to work for 2 or 3 brokers but using CD it's not gonna happen. There are a few good ones that we work with alot but if they have something posted for cheap I still wouldn't take it.
Ushit has their ass covered. They are unlike CD in the fact they do not verify that you are legal. Either way you could not go after either board if the carrier were to screw you. CD is TRYING to be a legit reliable load board that is making a killing. Ushit is just making a killing and not giving a rats ass who gets screwed as long as they get paid. I guess it comes down to morals.

What's the difference between ccoop and Mrs Coop? Are you husband and wife? I think I may have realized that by now, but wasn't sure.
If you don't mind, I'm really interested in how you guys started your business and grew it, what made you decide to go alone, how you did things, how you hired, etc. Maybe it's not my business, really, and maybe you really don't care to take the time to tell your whole story, but I just wanted you to know that I'm interested in hearing the story.
I think I remember reading that you run duallies. Have you thought about running tractors? I'm interested in learning how to work auto freight, if you're interested in having a Class A driver with enough OTR xp and a clean record.
Anyways.
Thanks for the reply.
