I took one to Carson City, Nv. Nice out there. 30's. Hit Wyo this afternoon and my temp meter went to hell.. lol
Laramie was -25. I said screw that. I figured Sydney, Ne. was better. -5 here. Got the lil cummins purring at 1000 rpms. Nice and toasty in here.
Stopped in Cheyenne and got fuel and doused her with Power Service. Im ready now!
You guys stay warm. As long as my lil cummins stays running I will be good. I sure will get cold quick if it shuts down though.
Omaha had tons of snow when I went thru on Monday. I bet they got more now.
By the way.. Got a level 2 DOT to kick off the year. Man they hate us rv haulers. Sitting at a light 5 miles from the dealer. Lady state cop pulled up and began to eyeball me. Well not me, Im ugly. Sure enough pull away from the light and wheew... Pull over and she asks for my NV permit. I said yep, got one but it expires in 20 mins. So she holds me over and writes me a warning for a expired permit. She also was all worked up over my aux tank. She said all I was allowed was 110 gallons. I said no 119 gallons is the limit. I have a 115. I told her to go back to her car and look it up. I seen her looking thru her book in my mirror. She never brought up my aux tank after that.
She also wanted to know if I had red fuel. I told her to get her plastic tubing and have a look. She said she didnt have one. I told her if you want to check it its real easy with a 3 foot section of clear tubing. She said what a great idea.. lol I told her every dot officer has one. I then knew I had a rookie.
Thats when I had fun with her. I will leave it at that. lol No No, just DOT games no other games.. hehee..
Anyway all was well except for a written expired permit warning. After a chat with her boss, she is getting yelled at... Bet she will remember me...

Oh the joys of the DOT. Its like here in IL everytime I get weighed and the is a Commerce Commision Officer there I know I'm going around back. Man has PrePass became my friend, nothing better than beep beep beep and a green light and roll on.

Yeah I love those. Only problem for us highway hitters is they record when you roll thru. DOT does an audit and brings pre pass records and makes sure everything matches up.
I do love pre pass though!
Not much traffic out cause frieght is slow right now. Cops are bored.
Have your ducks all pretty and in a neat lil row guys. They are on the warpath!

They don't have access to any prepass events, once you disappear from the screen your gone. They can only get access via prepass in the event of an accident.
Is a driver’s time from one PrePass weigh station to another clocked to see if they are speeding?
PrePass adheres to a strict data confidentiality policy and takes great steps to ensure that PrePass cannot be used to measure or monitor driver speeds when bypassing weigh stations. To ensure that your transponder is read and signaled properly, you are required to follow the posted speed limits. We further encourage adherence to the speed limit to ensure your own safety and that of the motoring public.

This debate has gone on many many times. Go to prepass site and see. They do not share the event info. Dot has no way of viewing it in real time.

Haulin' and Cosgo are correct. I've heard this brought up time and time again.
The Prepass "Party Line' is that they do NOT record times, only dates, and that they do not share even THAT data unless it would be subpoenaed (such as in the event of an accident or similar).
I’ll see if I can post the direct link.
DOT can’t just come w/ the records. I’ve been through a couple of audits, and the most recent once was SINCE w/ had PP in ONE of our trucks (mine) and they didn’t bring any records. That doesn’t RULE out that it could be used against you, especially in the event of an accident. However, based on PP web site and the fact that DOT didn’t bring records to our audit I tend to buy in to the PP Party Line... not without a court order.
I would be FAR more worried about cell phone data than PP. If you cheat have an accident, particularly if it involves a great amount of property damage, injury (or worse) you can bet your ass that Prepass is going to be the LEAST of your worries. They’ll have a court order for your Verizon/Spring/AT&T/whatever records so fast it will make your head spin. They’ll know who you called, when, how long, what cell tower(s) it was relayed through, if you were connected to the internet via your Air Card and what porn sites you visited before you can say “CSA 2010". THAT's a given!
If you cheat, (not Haulin’ or I would EVER do that!) and you have an accident, you are screwed with or without PP. So unless you think you can run a trucking company without cell phones or internet cards in the truck, PP is the least of your worries. Don’t have any accidents!!

Here is the PP faq page, Haulin' had actually quoted 1 of the relevant sections...
http://www.prepass.com/aboutus/faq/pages/PrePassFaq.aspx
The other relevant section is:
Will my invoice show the times when vehicles bypass, so it may be compared to the driver logs?
The invoice only list dates that vehicles bypass, never times. PrePass does not retain any timestamp information that could be used for enforcement purposes.
Hope that helps.
If anyone knows of someone that has had it used (and I don't mean "my brother Billy's buddies cousins friend" I mean an actual ticket or letter from the FMCSA stating that you are being revoked or punished based on PP info) I would be interested. Until then, I believe what PP states on their FAQs.

All I can say is Ive heard the uncles brother stories. I never plan to use pre pass anyway doin what Im doin.
Yes Ive heard the uncles brothers stories about cell phones to.
I have seen neither used from anyone I knew. But everyone ive known has never had a injury accident.
It wont be long till we are required to have boxes in our trucks. Enjoy your freedom while it lasts. Well we arent real free right now. Its gonna get worse though even for us lil truckers.

fyi... its impossible to get a subpeona for cellphone records unless the driver or company name is on the account it is on. ;)
You cannot supeona the records of a non affiliated party unless criminal(not regulatory) charges are pending. No judge would allow that as it is a simple right to privacy issue. But in the case of a severe life altering accident, anything goes. But honestly if you were to have caused an accident of that nature, you wouldn't be able to hide anyway. Even though your fuel receipts only show the date, the transaction at that particular truckstop will also have a time.
As far as PrePass goes, I've had mine since August 2008. I've written a few comic-books during that time, and never once been questioned even when the station is red-lighting everyone.

Colorado thanks for calling out the cell phones as a brothers, uncles, cousin type story... I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to subpeona those records... I guess I'm STILL not SURE even after your and Tony's remarks here... lol

Interesting info about the name on the account. Unfortunately, MY name is on my account(s), I believe my other driver's name is on his,, he can confirm or deny, and our probabable 3rd definitely has his name on his... so short of going and getting all new phones in a new name... We wouldn't be Subpeona Proof.

Nice to be among such a great group of "artists" here!!!

Yeah, thing of the past though. If I can't make money doing things the right way within set schedules... I shouldn't be in business. The risk is not worth the reward in some cases. Sometimes it is, but I don't do what I tell others not to do. Live by example ;)

Good way of puttin things Tony. Thats hits it for me too. And yep most anytime im 100% legal.
Now when a snowstorm gets in the way or Im heading home I play picasso just like anyone else would sometimes.
Even in some horrific accident and your reciepts are same day your gonna be fine.
I have a good bud many moons ago that got his semi rearended by two coked out kids. Killed em both. This was before pre pass and cell phones. Anyway he had made a 15 min mistake 4 days back. The family sued him for 5 million cause his truck shouldnt have been at that exact spot. He should have been 15 minutes ahead.
Needless to say it got thown out of court.
Common sense still prevails even in these days same as the old days.

I remember getting "hot" loads hauling rv's several years back before rv haulers really started getting watched. "Can you get this to Lazydays (tampa, fl) by tomorrow?" and the answer was ........
(time to pack the sun tan lotion)
My point is if they want to hang you out to dry they can and will. I personally think the ways the hours of service are written is stupid. Even if I'm at home I don't spend anywhere near 10 hours to eat sleep and shower.
