Look in the first pic, don't see any guard rail damage from what is showing. Could be he came off the road (sleeping, texting, idioting, etc) going at a high rate of speed and had 2 choices. One, either hit the embankment or the bridge pylon head-on, or two, aim for the middle and hope for the best. Looks like he chose #2!! :D

What I noticed was your mirror and how far back the back up was. I have a similar picture right here. This pic was taken in Missouri when I was in a backup where 2 18 wheelers sideswiped each other at 70MPH sending one of 'em across the highway and hitting this Tahoe head on. The wreck killed 2 guys that were heading home to Arkansas after a hunting trip in Missouri.

The backup was miles and miles long and it took me about 2 hours to get pass the wreck. The Tahoe was completely obliterated. There were Troopers standing all over the place when I came upon it, so I just put my camera down and went on my way.
