We have hauled a few loads for them recentley. They are usually about 5-10 days late but they usually pay decent and have 3-4 car loads at a time. They offer a 10 day quickpay for minus 5%. We have over 5k outstanding with them now and I gave them a call today since 1 was due yesterday and I figured I would ask about the one that would be do tomorrow. When I called I was told the accounting dept was out unitl Thursday. Go figure. Then I went on CD to confirm to make myself feel better and look at their rating which I knew was good. Over 500 ratings but they have had one recent negative for late payment. I don't know what made me look up their authority but when I did it showed INACTIVE. They do have a active surety bond though. I called the owner Jerry and he told me that the reason it was inactive was because they changed bonds and the fax # at FMCSA for reactivations was down????????? He said the 1st check would go out this Friday and the other check would go out by the end of next week. MAKING BOTH OF THEM LATE. I can't stop thinking about this. I let them keep money so I can get paid in 10 days and now it's gonna be more like 15-20 days. Think I'm gonna give him a call in the morning and if he can't get me the checks earlier, Smack down on the bad ratings/Surety bond?????? They do offer decent multiple car loads and I don't want to not be able to work with them. Just would like to get paid on time. Give me some input please(NOT YOU COOP) It's been bugging me all day.

I think we all know now ratings can be easily removed even if you are guilty.
It just means that we have to realize before hand "IT WILL BE LATE!"

Didn't I say I did not want your opinion! Shocking, you don't listen to me :) Thanks again for the roses for Mother's day. Love you
Mentioned these guys too last fall. Their game never changes & have not moved anything for them since. Although, if it were paying decent & I could wait 40 or 50 days for a check.... ehhh nevermind.
Anyway, here are the dates from dispatch to payment if you wait for full payment... Their statement matches the dispatch in regard to when they "issue" your payment. Of course holding it for a month after that is just grey area...
Just for the record on these guys... The cars were picked up 7/23-delivered 7/24- Invoiced 7/27(Still have fax confirmation). The check was "issued" 8/12- postmarked 9/9 & cashed today 9/11.

Use you is EXACTLY what she wants... Running her business on YOUR dollars. Douche bags!
Thanks to Brad's warning, we've steered well clear of these Ass Clowns.

I guess if you know ahead of time they always pay late, then you shouldn't think of it as 10 day pay, it should be thought of as a 25 day pay and a 5% discount for them. People like this will never change there ways if we let this happen. If it were me I'd hit there bond and give them a negative for late payment along with an email stating why to the owner of the company. I would also show invoices from the past of late payments.

So I just got an email from Paula at Teeter stating that both checks were mailed out yesterday. That would actually make the second check kind of on time. Kind of funny how "accounting" was out til today but the checks went out yesterday???? On Tuesday I was told one was going out the 13th and the other on the 20th. Whatever I guess. As long as my big checks are on the way I am happy :)

She just called me wanted me to book an .82 center going 600 miles. I almost said something like "only if you pay me on time cuz I have heard you have a problem with that!" I didn't, kept my mouth shut and just keep pluggin' away trying to get this show on the road again. I swear she has a bad memory or the early onset of alzheimers, due to me telling her every week I will call when I'm ready to go.

A customer that works with me from time to time uses them as primary, and every time they call me this co has the move posted for crap. They had a load for two weeks going 100 miles trying to move it for like .65 ea or so. I've heard they are very nice people, but pricing is not so great.

Hauled one to GA, 8/29- invoiced same day. Still waiting for payment. I know it's only a few days late (30 day) but dammit, they want the car delivered on time...I want paid on time!
Mrs Coop

I would give them a call just to check on it. I called a broker today about payment because it was a few days past due today. Glad I did. The paper work had been misplaced(So they say) and they are mailing the check out today. Seems like most brokers want to hold YOUR money as long as they can and only actually mail it out after you contact them.

Candice. our policy for some time has been fax the invoice and paperwork over, do something else to kill 10-15 minutes. Call them and verify. Write down the time, date and with who you spoke. Then when they don't pay on time and use "didn't get your paperwork" you can point out that on xx/xx at x:xx you spoke with "Charlene " and confirmed tat they had it. No excuse not to get a check out immediately.
Folks were using this tactic so often late last year that we started doing this on everything. Its a colossal waste of our time, but the couple that we've "caught" haven't pulle the same shit again...

Uh....idk, hopefully the same or following day. Kinda shitty that we have to wait 6 weeks to get paid. F@#ckin c#cksuckin bottom feeding brokers. Piss me off. This is why I try to get all cod's, even if it pays $50 less. This business like most, is all about cash flow. Gotta have the funds when the bills are due, not freakin 30 business days later .
h2oskibumz

Read the first part of this thread. She is notorious for "cutting" the check (now you've been paid, right?) and not mailing it for 2 or 3 weeks.

Get your check have all your paperwork in order and hit them with a negative for late pay. Net 30 is 30 days there version is net 45. Sounds like another broker with no cash flow swirling the drain waiting to go under.
Mrs Coop
10-06-2011, 08:50 PM
Net 30 is not the same as 30 business days. Not sure what your dispatch sheet says but if it's 30 business days that means about 45 days.Still BS either way.

Still not paid...46 days and counting with multiple calls. Never will haul for them again
h2oskibumz
10-14-2011, 07:52 PM
I passed on one of theirs this week because I knew it would be a hassle to get paid. Never have hauled for them because folks here looking out for one another and letting one another know when someone plays games like this. Did it cost me? Probably. Do I care? Nope. If everyone knew they were shitheads about "cutting" vs actually "mailing" checks no one would haul for them, their customers would move along and the community would be stronger for it...
Post up when the check arrives, will e-mail this thread to them, with everyones approval. Just think they need to know their slanted idea of delaying payment is public.

I had loaded at the Iaa in Omaha and was headed to Copart when I called to pick it up. She called back and said that was fine or she would drop it in the mail that day. I said put it in the mail, as I really didn't want to go out of my way because I was in a hurry to make it to Copart on time. It was in my mailbox the next day.
The non pays are beginning to stick. 4 in the past month...
Maybe there has been clarification between issuance vs being able to physically take it to the bank.

I hauled a load awhile back for Teeter and had a hard time getting paid. We did finally get the check after fileing on the bond. I'm thinking Jerry's ship is sinking. He seems to be trying to stay afloat. He told me that he's had a lot of nonpaying dealers this year($50,000 worth).

ick. But really... I didn't expect any different. I figured the negatives would either be back, or there would be more.
But it just goes to show what happens...
1 - Broker gets negatives removed
2 - Unsuspecting carrier see's no history of trouble
3 - Carrier doesn't get paid when history repeats itself.
I blame the broker for not paying of course, but I blame those previous carriers for not sharing information elsewhere.

I blame CD for the shitty way they handle the feedback system. Very simple if you get a negative for non-pay, late pay etc.. the ONLY way it gets removed is if you provide documentation that shows it was paid. How simple would that be:th_dblthumb2:.

And people will continue to move it. Forgot the name of the broker (h2o will know), but they were down into the upper 60% and kept on listing until they finally disappeared.
There was a Express something or another out of OH that was in the 60% range for a long time. Think Translogic out of MI made it down to the 40% mark before finally calling it quits. The bad part is that when these guys go out, they usually know another investor & start up shop elsewhere stamping credit cards all over again.

There were multiple Express Auto. One in MN that is actually good to work with. The bad one was Express Auto Trans (NOT Transport, just Trans) out of Cincinnati. We left them a negative that stuck...
Another bad one was Countrywide Auto Transport. I forget where they were out of but they also got a Negative from us that stuck. We actually filed on their bond over a unit. Miraculously we got a check from them about a week after we filed... And then they too were gone!

Yep, Express out of Ohio closed up a while ago... I talked to someone that was owed $1500 from them. I had done a few loads for them but they were all COD. COD is the best way to go now a days.... I'm not waiting for my money since I have done the work!

In two years I have only had one non-payment. Honestly, the best advise with this business is to take loads that are a mix of COD and other payments. I never let brokers keep a percentage. I just wait for the full amount because as you run your business; the checks keep coming in and you are fine. You just have to wait the time to get the first one and it is steady cash flow after that. I used to always get paid late. It sucks but that is the way it works.
Think about it this way: If you invested that money in the short term (if you were paid on time); would you be able to make up that 5%? Probably not. If you are I want to talk to you about investing. You can get a good business credit card and charge all your expenses there. If you are lucky; you can get a 0% and actually save some money.
Some are starting to stick?
